The Key

The story of a dying marriage, told in the form of parallel diaries. After nearly 30 years of marriage, a dried-up, middle-aged professor frenziedly strives for new heights of carnal pleasure with his repressed, dissatisfied wife, resorting to stimulants galore for her. During the day, they record their adventures of the previous night.

sigh i want so desperately to like it more🥀i love diaries and the diary format so much... but like maybe the ambiguity of it all and the insincerity of everyone involved dispossesses a diary of what makes one enjoyable to read at all - the sincerity. maybe it’s an interesting—even good—dissection of imposed emotional austerity, it’s inhumanity, and how it manifests in sexuality (and obviously i like the dynamic between whats written and whats spoken, and how creepy everyone on is in general🙈) but idk.... something about it lacks to me... i would like to read it again in the future i think.......
