Junji Ito

Horror comics author Junji Ito has recently purchased a new house and has decided to invite his girlfriend to move in with him. However, when she moves in, she comes with two cats, Yon, a strange-looking white cat with a ghastly fur pattern on its back that resembles a skull, and Mu, Yon's cute counterpart and playmate. This manga is a diary of the author's life as he tries and often fails to connect with his two feline friends. The manga is drawn in Junji Ito's horror comic style featuring intricate and finely drawn images.

I found it funny and interesting as I read every chapters of it! The "I have a question Mr. J" section helps me to know some trivias about Junji Ito.

I’m going to need all cat lovers to read this. It’s the perfect blend of Ito’s typical art style (which is fabulously horrific), but this time the subject matter is about the two cats his wife brought to their new home. I adore how absolutely ridiculous this book is. 

This was going to be a 5 star read from the get-go.

Cat Diary is an absolutely hilarious account of owning cats as seen through the eyes of a horror manga artist. Ito retains his creepy horror art skills which just makes the whole slice-of-life story utterly ridiculous. A short, but quite amusing read! Recommended for those who like cats, silliness, and a pinch of the uncanny!

Ahh what an excellent manga!! This one had me laughing so hard. This manga perfectly blends Junji Ito’s creepy art style and his humor! I almost gave up on Ito because I had a bit of a rollercoaster ride following his work: first book I read of his, I loved, then the next few kind of puttered towards less great in comparison to the first. But after reading this, I have a renewed love for his work! A must read for cat lovers/owners and Junji Ito fans.
