why are some books that are objectively not good still so very readable? it has to do with wish fulfillment, maybe? she literally has purple eyes, that's how special she is. and he's a playboy with a damaged soul that ~only she can heal. still, I have to admit I did enjoy it, even with many eye-rolls, enough to finish it and start the second one. the song business and when. they. talked. like. this. were difficult, though.

The movie. The books. Is WORTH IT!

This review was originally posted on Addicted To Romance Driven is a fuel passioned romance that is fiery hot, intense with emotion and will draw you in like gravity....simply breathtaking!! Driven is the first book in the Driven series and an epic romantic tale that I wasn't expecting on taking a ride on. And I should have done more research because the ending KILLLED me and yes I will warn you that the first book ends with a cliffhanger and it tore me apart in ways that I didn't expect. What I found most intriguing was the connection that Colton and Rylee have together. So let's take you on a ride as I show you what made this book SO great. Our key players of this delicious romance are: Colton Donavan, a notorious race car driver, a playboy who loves racing and women while hiding who he truly is from everyone. Rylee Thomas, works for a nonprofit organization that helps a boys home, who is down to earth and lovely on the inside and out. WHAT A STORY!! I just adored this book so much. I saw this on Audible's romance package, and I have had this book on my wishlist for YEARS!! So I knew that this was the perfect time to try it out. I was nervous because there were mixed reviews of the narrator, so I wasn't sure how much that I would really like this one. But after a few chapters, I was completely hooked on this book. I'm seeing the true Colton Donavan - the unmasked version with a vulnerability that makes me want to reach over and take the hurt that often flickers through those green eyes and make it better. To show him that love and commitment are possible without complications. That it is real and pure and much more powerful than ever imagined with it is built and shared between two people. It begins with our heroine, Rylee, where she is organizing a fundraiser, and ends up trapped in a closet and is rescued by Colton Donovan, and the chemistry is so hot, and they share some super steamy kisses in that closet until Rylee stops him. Rylee is a "good girl" she has only had one relationship. She doesn't ever do one night stands or casual sex and she isn't capable of separating sex from emotion. She is tormented by the death of her fiancee two years previous. She tries to put Colton at a distance, however, Colton pursues her for reasons she doesn't understand. But she sees something more in Colton than your average playboy. As Colton and Rylee begin to slowly pursue a relationship, seeing the bond that Rylee has with the boys from the home she takes on and defends, and the powerful chemistry that Rylee and Colton have. We see some hints of Colton's character that I just gravitated towards. I know all about baggage, sweetheart. I have enough of it to fill up a 747 and then some. My shit can't be fixed. I've been broken for way too long for that miracle to happen We sense that there is something dark and deep about Colton's past and some great build up towards an intense cliffhanger that made me head back over the Audible to grab book two (which I am currently listening to) :) If you love emotional turmoil in a romance, and a captivating couple that you fall head over heels for and a series that focus on one couple....then grab this one up!! You won't regret it. [foogallery id="48866"]

I read this for the ultimate reading challenge, July book - a book made into a movie. I’ve heard such great things about this book, about this series, but I’m sorry to say that it didn’t really live up to the hype. For me it’s WAY too similar to an other famous grey trilogy. So many times something new would be revealed about Colton and all I could think of was Christian. I also found the writing style to be a little stilted, the use of contractions was a big thing for me. Also, and this is odd I admit, but the excuse of exclamation marks bothered me as well. I think I’ll get the second book, if only to skim through it so I get an idea with what happens, but I won’t be continuing with the series.

Not exceptional but very good, lovely and sexy.

absolutely loved it ❤
