The description really didn't prepare me for the content warnings in the beginning. I was expecting a laid back, cutesy story. I would have been happy with that but I really liked what I got instead. I was way more invested in the characters. I think Logan was a more compelling character, having way more on the surface to worth through. But Maddie was well rounded as well, most of his flaws and journey being internal. I've always thought it's creepy how fans & consumers get really attached the celebrities and will just attack if they don't like something. It's weird. These are people too, no? Making mistakes, deserving second chances, even third fourth etc sometimes. The ending was rather quick, in my opinion. I actually would have liked it ending with Maddie and Logan staying separated, subverting the whole "happy ever after" ending that's expected of romance stories. Them reuniting and getting back together, that's where it felt rushed, opinion. Not bad for just being the what last 20 minutes of a 10+ hour story.

I really wanted to love this book, and while I had a good time reading it, it didn't quite meet my expectations. The book felt very YA-ish while being an adult story and the development of the relationship between Mattie and Logan felt like it went from 0 to 60. I did really appreciate the bits of articles, Logan's therapy sessions and Mattie's memoir interspersed throughout the story, but the fanfiction parts felt a little bit like mockery (though I have no idea if that was the author's intention). Overall, it was still a fun read and I would recommend it to my friends! I received an ARC of this book on Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.
