This is a great work of Fiction / Novel written originally in Tamil by "Kalki.R.Krishnamurthy" under premise if Indian pre-independence and gripping story line.

This Novel is set in India during Pre-Independence time. Along with plot of the Novel, Author " Kalki " recorded events of Social and political life, Historical and Important places in undivided-India, Freedom struggle between 1930's -  1948 where this Novel ends. 

         I am very much Happy that i've read this novel as one of my favourite subjects is History. I am impressed the way he recorded Indian Freedom struggle and other past history and historical figures of India as a part of the plot, never once i felt it odd about it.

Some of the authors original ideas expressed by certain characters in novel intrigued me and some really made me wonder!

, a British Army medical officer, reported from 

 identifying parasites which cause kala azar. His report was correct, and scientists gave his name to the parasite 

 and to the Western name of the disease, 

Pg 107 :: Velayudha Mudhaliyar, A Character from Novel says that " Some countries are using a machine called "Tractor" and goes on questioning if somebody ploughs the land using that, the land doesn't belong to them. This novel is written in year 1948 and looks like "TRACTOR" is not available in India at that time.

Pg 543, 544 :: After Raghavan and Sita's marriage relationship grew bitter and separated for a while and meet again in Calcutta, Sita though she is portrayed as independent Spirit, she will come to terms with Life / Raghavan for the sake of family life / her daughter and drops her independence / life according to her wishes. She says this to Raghavan " The place you like is the place i like ". and she decides to live a life according to Raghavan's wishes or under his control / footsteps. I have had hard time thinking, is it character saying it / Author opinion himself like that ? Finally i though even if it is Author's thought , for the year 1948 India might have been like that.

Pg 545 :: Author himself writes like this --> " In 1947, August attained matchless significance in Indian History. It was on 15, August that India ended its enslavement of over a thousand years and became an Independent democracy. " That was kind of confusing to me because,

Babur established Mughal rule in India defeating Ibrahim Lodi. But after Babur, Humayun, AKBAR, Shah Jahan and rest of them are born in India and ruled the land very reasonably even though it is Monarchy until British arrived in Indian shores in the name of Business. So my doubt is, is it really 1000 Years of enslavement of Indians ?

This Novel all together is a good read and i've thoroughly enjoyed it. I've also learned many things new that are off Indian Freedom Struggle.

Ancient Takshashila university which is now near Rawalpindi in Pakisthan.

Akbar's grave and other historical places in Agra.

Panipat and Famous 3 wars happened there.

1946 Calacutta communal right started by Muslims, initiated by supporters of Jinnah's Muslim League terming it as a Direct action. For the first time heard about " Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy (1892 - 1963) who caused all this turmoil.

About Rajnipur / Rajasthan and places around it.

First time heard about " Diwan-i-Khas & Diwan-i-Aam " built by Shah Jahan in New Delhi.

He recorded about World War II and talked about Hitler and Mussolini, Atrocities committed by Japan on China.

Pg 62 :: He mentioned about Fever " Kala azar (Visceral leishmaniasis) " and searching about it, I've learned this -->. In 1903 William Boog Leishman, a British Army medical officer, reported from Dum Dum near Calcutta identifying parasites which cause kala azar. His report was correct, and scientists gave his name to the parasite Leishmania and to the Western name of the disease, leishmaniasis.
