Kamome Shirahama

[Tongari bōshi no atelier 2 Limited Edition]

A beautifully-illustrated story about a girl who longs for magic in her life and learns that, on the inside, she already is what she wishes she could be. Reminiscent of Studio Ghibli, this lushly-drawn story was voted one of the top 10 manga of the year in 2018 by the Japanese manga industry. In a world where everyone takes wonders like magic spells and dragons for granted, Coco is a girl with a simple dream: She wants to be a witch. But everybody knows magicians are born, not made, and Coco was not born with the gift for magic. She's resigned to her un-magical life, until a traveling magician passes through her village, and Coco learns what what everybody "knows" might not be the truth.

Witch Hat Atelier, Vol. 2

Witch Hat Atelier has the absolute potential for a very vast story. Captivating art aside, the manga itself is a job well done and is an equally heartwarming and adventurous story of little girls training to become the best witches in the future. Moreover, this book has a reflective essence within it that ties magic with the real world. Highly recommend!

Dang. Shirahama really loves to end on cliffhangers, huh? 😭

★★★★★ // “when you’re anxious to learn something and need to get better as quickly as possible, the solution is to make it a part of your daily life.” love this volume so much! all about growing pains, patience, and how one responds to challenges. watching these kids find creative ways to escape a roadblock or save someone in a matter of life-and-death situation inspires so much courage. what a banger volume cliffhanger too!

An amazing and gorgeous manga I cannot recommend enough

Key words : manga, fantasy, fiction, witchcraft, young adult, seinen

A second volume as good as the first one. I really love this series. Coco is so cute and we got to see more of Agathe and of her personality. I loved the spell created by Tetia, I wish I could do the same in real life. Again, what an ending. My heat was beating so fast, it was really intense. There is more action than in the first volume and we learn a bit more about this new magical universe. I cannot wait to read the third volume. It is really promising. Finally, the drawings are still amazing and gorgeous. It is just beautiful. I cannot recommend this series enough.

5/5
