2.5* fun brainless lil read

3.5

This book was a banger! Sports romance, fake dating, "bedroom lessons", and great banter. Something to get you interested in this book? He looks through the tabs she's made in her romance books and TAKES NOTES on what she likes.

THIS BOOK WAS SO SWEET AND SCRUMPTIOUS AND I FEEL SICK ABOUT IT. fake dating ☑️ moderately mature mmc ☑️ virgin fmc but like not done in a creepy way ☑️ from the beginning Clay was so attentive and actively listened to whatever Gianna wanted and communicated. now could he have worked on his communication skills? absolutely but he’s also only 20 years old so I won’t fault him. the side characters in this book were kind of iconic. all of Clay’s friends (I guess you could say Gianna’s too) did not let them get away with their bs and I really appreciated it bcs if it weren’t for them I don’t think Clay would’ve gotten his shit together….or at least it would’ve taken him A LOT longer. Gianna..I love her. I also related to her in an ungodly amount. I feel like she represents all the girlies that have found solace in being forgotten. she understood what she wanted and she went after it. she became enough for herself rather than enough for what her family wanted. she’s cool I like her. also I need Holden’s book like yesterday. you don’t get to be all wise and shit and then sulk off to the corner what’s your story dude???

I was really hyped to read this book and was (im)patiently waiting for it's release, cause I love the fake-dating trope. There was a good amount of steamy "lessons" and the romance itself did not disappoint at all. But I have to admit I was a bit annoyed at the characters at times. ✅ A giant football player teaching you all things sex? Where do I sign up? 🆗 Fake dating to make your ex jealous to want you back? Oh dear save me. 🆗 I really disliked Giana's crush. A part of me knows it's because I was rooting for her and Clay, but he was an asshole. 𝟒 / 𝟓 ⭐ 𝟐 / 𝟑 🌶️

Okay I love this book but that last 30 something percent wasn't it. I really liked that they didn't have a long cliche argument that started because of miscommunication and I rejoiced too soon. That was so unnecessary and if I had been so high on love to then crash down so suddenly, I don't know, it wouldn't feel the same anymore.

** spoiler alert ** DID JOT READ THE FIRST BOOK OF THE SERIES DHSBJS pro: -good smut -reader fl -sometimes cute -got some domestic scenes -healing from toxic relationship -learning to put yourself first con: -love triangle/square -public love declarations -mid writing -a lot of cringe sometimes -kitten to be perfectly honest, the third act break up was pretty dissapointing because the scene where they actually break up wasnt that good, it sort of felt like i was reading a bad wattpad story the misery he felt after the break up was pretty good tho. his friends were really supportive and nice i loved it. the title drop wasnt that interesting,,, LIKE WHY??? the way it was resolved was not how i expected it and because i hate plublic love declarations, this aint it chief how the problems were resolved was not satisfying at all, you didnt see how he told maliyah, you didnt see how he told his mom, you didn't see how cory reacted, what you did see was only what he told giana abt all of it. I WANT TO SEE HOW IT ALL WENT DOWNN

Oh man I flew through this one!! 4.25 stars! Such a great fake dating sport romance!! I loved both Giana and Clay. Giana is a a little shy, sweet, quirky girl that loves to read a romance book (yes ma’am! Love to see it) Clay is a hot, extremely loyal (to a fault) football player. These two were so cute! I didn’t love the conflict toward the end. I feel like it could’ve easily been resolved and didn’t quite fit well with the characters development. Other than that a great book. I absolutely can not wait to read Holdens book! He had my interest this entire book!

This review will be short and will likely not make sense due to my brain being mush from a fever lmao. I’m glad I didn’t realize until like 30% that this was the same author that did A Love Letter to Whiskey because had I known that, I probably wouldn’t have picked this up. Thankfully, by then, I was already completely hooked on this and I’m kinda happy that she redeemed herself (for me, personally) after that stressful mess of a book. This was really cute and like, really hot too? I love that he read her smutty romance novels and paid attention to the things that she highlighted. Some of the PDA early on was a little much for me and at first the whole meta of talking about smutty romance novels in a smutty romance novel was a little cringe, but all in all my mush brain really loved this.
