3✰ “we think if we ask enough times, the answer will change.” my brain can't process a review rn but it was good tw: depression, suicide, murder(obviously), statutory rape

3.5 stars this was more of a mystery novel, rather than a suspenseful and/or thriller novel that you might’ve expected this book to be based on the cover and synopsis so i was a bit underwhelmed with this book. i did enjoyed this book however since this book was very plot-driven. the downside to that is that i didn’t really connect with the characters as much. they aren’t the worst or anything is just that i wish the characters were given more substance, a background, and a rawness in that; a quality where i feel that would make this book more memorable. more to come.

3.5⭐️!

The ending!! Omg this book surpassed any and all expectations I had of it! I honestly raced through this book in a day I just couldn't stop reading!

This book was actually so good I couldn’t put it down. I loved how different aspects of the murders kept getting revealed and Monica kept finding new things and new people who knew the cheerleaders that had died. This book has you constantly questioning if people are telling the truth or not. This book also introduces several characters and each character has different things about them that make you think that they had something to do with the deaths. I also really enjoyed this book because we find out what happened to each of the girls and what happened during their deaths as well as some of what lead up to their deaths. This book also provides twists which is super nice because the twists that are revealed you honestly never really see them coming.

This book reminded me of Pretty Little Liars (the show, not the book), what with all the lying and the secrets and the privileged town they all lived in. It started off pretty easy, introducing the characters and the tragedy that happened five years prior. Then we get to the mystery part—Monica, the protagonist, trying to figure out what really happened to the cheerleaders who died back then. The truth was not easy to figure out, I’ll give this that. I had no clue until it was right there. But when the reveal happens, it was so anticlimactic, I practically just brushed through it and my mind was like blah blah blah meh blah meh. Basically, this book wasn’t anything special and I could have lived with having not read it at all. It was a good change of pace, though, from the heaviness of Sadie so there’s that, at least.

This one was definitely enjoyable for a YA mystery. I’ll admit I expected a little bit more out of it and I felt it almost read too easily. I would have enjoyed being at the edge of my seat way more than I actually was and learning more about the crimes itself. I definitely enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it, but I wouldn’t consider it as one of my favorites.

WOW so good & enticing

I liked it, but I also expected more. I expected more mystery and suspense. The plottwist was fast and I didn’t feel anything when reading it. It didn’t shock me (not that I saw it coming, I didn’t) or ‘scared’ me.

This was such a fun read and I was instantly hooked. I am such a sucker for these type of mysteries. It’s hard not to when they leave you wondering what’s going to happen next. I was quite shocked at how much I enjoyed this because I usually enjoy more action and scariness in my thrillers but this had me captivated and left me second guessing everything and everyone. I’m not ashamed to admit that I actually gasped at a few plot twists that happened in this. This book surprised me with the way it also addressed grief and the struggle of moving on and letting go. I really do think that this is going to become a comfort read for me. If you’re into thrillers or amateur sleuths, this is definitely the read for you.

Amazing from start to end.

The Cheerleaders. Gotta admit this one didn’t hold my attention like I thought but it was also still good. I liked it for the most part. Did I want it to be more horror filled? Yes lol but it wasn’t and that’s fine I liked the mystery of it. I also loved having to guess who did what. I had an inkling or two and both were proved right. I just didn’t know how right I’d be. I enjoyed this one.

overall was kind of slow up until the last 4 or so chapters. took my a while to read but the ending made it worth it.

the reveal of who did it caught me by surprise which is smth that is VERY difficult to do

I love this book so much! When I say it was the perfect balance between thriller, murder mystery, friendship drama, and romance I mean it. In thing I loved about this book was that there was very little romance, however, you didn’t even realize there wasn’t that much romance. I read this book in between a series that talks about heavy things so it was perfect to escape from that world into this one for a little bit. Do you like reading a stand alone book, while reading a series? • In The Cheerleaders, Monica is the sister of one of the five cheerleaders who died 5 years ago. Two of them died in a car crash, two were murdered, and one committed suicide. All the deaths were wrapped up, there was a reason for the crash, the murderer was caught, the suicide was not questioned. However, Monica stumbles upon something that starts to unravel everything.

Honestly - this book surprised me! It sorta had a slow beginning - but picked up quickly. I thought I knew what was going on, and I was sure I knew what had happened but I was wrong. I literally gasped when the truth came out, and cried as well. It was a great mystery!
