Halo Falls
Do you believe in ghosts? For a small band of friends this question translated into a beacon of hope. The pros were it offered a great opportunity for fame, fortune and travel. The cons were the survival rate turned out to be zero. In hindsight it probably would not have mattered since desperation tends to murder common sense. Halo Falls is the story of five hopeless friends who have found themselves unexpectedly out of work and desperate enough to try anything to help make ends meet. A television advertisement from the new Specter Channel lifts them out of the gloomy unemployment trap with one simple contest. The intriguing ad offered viewers a chance at one million dollars plus their own ghost hunting series if they can submit convincing footage of an actual haunting. Paul, Daniel, Alan, Seth and Rachel did not waste any time examining this opportunity and unanimously agreed to embark on the exciting new job prospect. The violent history that lurks over their hometown of Dusky and the bloody destruction of the long extinct settlement of Halo Falls gave them more than enough material needed to enter the contest. Add cabin number twelve as their haunted destination and winning will be the easy part. With absolutely no intentions of actually finding a ghost, the five of them set out to fake footage of a haunting and submit it as the grand prize entry. Unfortunately, their dive into ghost hunting is short lived when they come face to face with the vengeful spirits that have taken possession of the cabin and has haunted the region that covers all of Guardian Mountain and the quiet town of Dusky for centuries. The setting of Halo Falls is a charming town called Dusky, Arkansas and continues with a winding mountain drive and ends at cabin twelve. The span of the story is the time it takes to kill a Saturday while travelling the scenic Arkansas highway that cuts through Guardian Mountain. The canvas is a beautiful crisp fall morning that begins with high hopes and ends in a dark rush of unimaginable violence and death. This is not your typical ghost story. The vicious murders in Dusky, ghost stories told among friends, the tale of what actually happened to the settlement of Halo Falls and the confrontation with the malevolent evil that lurks on Guardian Mountain and cabin twelve will keep the reader submerged in stories within a story.
