Karin Slaughter’s brain scares me. That is all 😂

i dont normally give thrillers 5 stars but there was nothing wrong with this so how could i not? OMG i love Karin Slaughter like ma'am NEVER FAILS. she is the moment! this was so good, obviously. the pacing was perfect, i was on the edge of my seat the whole time and didnt find myself flipping pages just for the sake of getting to the end like i do with most thrillers. Miss Slaughter does an amazing job of having an enticing storyline while also having characters that are well rounded that you can actually root for. i cant wait to continue on with this series!

So good! The details the author works into the police work, the forensics, and the crime are good. The characters are so dynamic and interesting. As always, the crimes are detailed and violent so please read trigger warnings if that kindof stuff bothers you. Karin Slaughter has become my absolute favorite crime/thriller author. I was on book 5 of the Will Trent series when I realized there was a whole series that predated it. So I stopped 20% into that book and picked up Blindsighted to start Sarah Linton's journey. It is just fantastic. Excited to continue on with this series!

★★★☆☆ 3 OK-What's-Next Stars Ok, I am speechless. This book, while so entertaining that I finished it in one go, left me with so much unsatisfying sensations that I'm now so friggin confused. First thing first, this story is not for the faint of heart. I love Karin Slaughter. Her standalone books are pure gold - violent, yes, but she balances it out with complicated plotlines, gruesome twists, and great character development. Perfect combinations! So.....that's probably it. With such high expectations, I'm a bit disappointed by this book because while it checks all the boxes when it comes to gore and violence, there's not much else in there to balance the shocks out. It's like Sharknado, man. A potential cult-classic, but plotwise, it's so predictable and a giant cliche bomb. I don't mind violence, and I know sometimes people have no reason at all to be evil and do terrible things that they do. But this book came to the point where I felt the characters suffer too much and unnecessarily. Gory details then felt forced and competitive. Strange choice of word, I know. I mean, competitive as in, it's like the author just wanted to prove (to herself, or maybe the world at large) that she could friggin do these gory, ugly writings. And she could, I didn't doubt for a second. In fact, she could do it so well that the thunders could indeed strike twice, or even thrice at the same spot in this Grant County universe. Like, it's cool but give me something else too, please. After being bombarded with all these sickening details of rapes and murders throughout the multiple hundreds of pages, I felt completely exhausted as fuck by the end of this book. Oh, speaking of the end, I could see the twist from 3,000 miles away. It's sooo easy, like way way too easy to guess. Maybe it's my fault that I read Jeffery Deaver's Lincoln Rhyme series before moving onto this one. They should pair up because while Deaver is full of gasp-worthy plot twists, it lacks the adrenaline-driven, gory, violent details. But I do want to continue the series because after all the shits the characters have been through, I felt invested and involved. I like Sara and Jeffrey and Lena. I want to know what's going to happen after this. I want that balance! The joy of encountering the plot twists and the clever plotlines. I believe in Ms. Slaughter's potential to deliver these in the upcoming books. And so we'll see.

Story wastes no time in getting straight to the first kill and subsequent gore all within the first chapter. Talk about hooking a reader in!
We not only follow the coroner as she discovers more about the deaths (having been the one to discover the first body) but we also follow the sister of the first victim and you can feel her pain and confusion at what has happened. Suspicions arise as possible suspects are questioned by the police force and anger arises as people point the blame at their neighbors. The tension only ramps up another victim is discovered and a third is taken. This story kept me hooked from the first chapter and did not let go until the final page. Truly an intense read and riveting first thriller.

out of all her books, the details in this one certainly grossed me out the most. honestly, i never saw that ending coming.

I could not put this down. It reels you in and keeps you engaged!! Slaughter knows how to write a murder thriller

-read the whole series -definitely compelling and grips you from the start -very graphic and gruesome -not as good as her stand alone books

Even though there were some unbelievable events there was enough suspense, surprise and interesting character development to make this enjoyable.

I would give this 3 1/2 stars because I was immediately engaged in the story. I found the main character Sara interesting and figured out fairly quickly the common factor between the current victims and Sara's history. (view spoiler)[ That being said I was desperately hoping that the perpetrator was not someone tied to Sara (hide spoiler)] Lena is a difficult character for me, I find her interesting but the chip on her shoulder is massive and frankly it's a little annoying the rate at which she can screw up solely based on the fact that she can't seem to pull her head out of her ass. I also feel like I missed a crucial piece of information regarding why Lena obviously dislikes Sara. Jeffery, the Chief of Police, thus far there is nothing about this guy that I like. He needs a swift kick in the head. Overall, I enjoyed the story. Although "enjoyed" seems an odd descriptor considering the amount of mayhem and graphic violence that is described. If you are easily made squeamish this may not be the book for you as the author seems to delight in providing graphic details related to the rapes that occurred either during the rape or having conjecture provided during the autopsies.

4.5 - loved all the grim details, you don’t read a lot of novels like this that take it to that extreme and I loved that this one did
