Very good second book, I really like Will Trent, Angie not so much, and as usual the story is quite dark

This novel was just as freaking good as the first! Of course the book captures the reader's attention right from the get go and it does not let up. Following a double murder and a kidnapping, we follow Will and his newest partner Faith as they try to uncover what has happened and bring the kidnap victim back home safely. The entire story takes place over 3 days, but  its not rushed and was honestly so freaking good to read! I loved this book!

the story/mystery was good and definitely intriguing but not  as  intriguing as other KS books i have read. i didn't feel any particular pull to this novel but still think it is definitely a solid thriller.

 i have no excuse for how long this took except to say i haven't been reading physically a lot lately lol

Karin Slaughter writes amazing characters and crime. Oh man, this was good! This one, I would say, wasn't as brutal as the first one in describing the crime.. but that might just be my perspective. So be cautious if gritty crime turns your stomach.

The mystery though, is so good. A very good read.

The chapters were super long and there was about 2 pointless chapters toward the end however I loved the aftermath perspective epilogue. 

Wasn’t keen on will’s fiancé so was kinda sad they stayed together.

This is a solid “yeah, this book is OK” for me. It felt very much like an episode of law and order. It felt very much like a sequel. And It felt like there wasn’t a lot of depth to the characters that I wanted to see at this point. For example, what the hell is Angie doing this entire book? We get almost nothing about her. Except she’s sketch. And re: Will, we get a lot of surface information but nothing too much about the inner workings of his emotions and mind. Like we get a little bit more information about his time in the foster system - he got burned with cigarettes - and a lot more about his dyslexia. In fact that’s really kind of an overwhelming theme in this book. There is A LOT of time spent talking about his dyslexia and what he does to hide it and how he doesn’t want people to know about it. It does somewhat relate to the story so I get it but we really did spend a lot of time hearing about his dyslexia. 
And there was one part in the end that kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I won’t go into detail, but it was regarding the mothers feelings towards her daughter at the end. Being a mother myself I did not identify with the emotion the author was trying to convey. I really don’t think I could ever feel the way she was having this mother feel. But it’s fine. It wasn’t a major plot point or even that important of a character. 
Having said all that, I’m very interested in getting to know Will and Angie and Faith much better in the coming books. I’m hoping for some good growth and development over the next book or two because I do find the overarching story interesting. And of course I love Karin Slaughter’s writing style. I typically listen to her stories on audiobook and they’re very easy to follow and they capture my interest, for the most.

Second book in the Will Trent series. Builds nicely on his character, introduces new ones. He’s stoic in the face of Atlanta PD abuse and ends up having to work closely with one to solve a murder and find a missing girl. Well plotted and very well written. Audiobook is excellent.

Cassandra Martin

My absolute favorite book. I’ve read it numerous times and even when rereading it and already knowing what’s going to happen, it still gives me that on the end of my seat feeling. I love Will Trent, I think he’s a great character who is very relatable in a lot of ways. 

This book is everything you could want in a crime thriller. It keeps you interested the whole way through, never a dull moment. 

Karin slaughter is my favorite author hands down.

I liked it a bit more than Triptych 'cause I think there was more character development on Will but at the same time I found the story line wasn't as fluid as in the previous book. Nevertheless is a wonderful book and Slaughter is amazing and I love her writing. 
I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good thriller with unconventional characters and great writing.

I needed to know the outcome so kept at it. Good story line but so much information that doesn't need to be there. The last 100 pages seem to carry the majority of the story.
