Black Sunshine A Dark Vampire Romance
Reviews

I fell in love with this book - the way it was written was beautiful and Solon + Lenore’s love for one another is top tier. ✨

A book that got me out of a reading slump. This dark romance had me constantly turning pages and I cannot wait to continue with the sequel.

this book was so good i loved the plot and fell in love with characters lenore is such a cool character and i loved seeing her develop over this book. i also enjoyed meeting the vampires throughout this. this is an 18+ read though so please don’t read this if you’re underage :) i am so looking forward to the sequel of this and the spin-off of this series! ••• UPDATE: i’ve preordered the sequel and the spin off ready for their arrival the sequel on july 1st and the spin off on october 31st (aka my favourite holiday)

DNF at 68%. This book is boring as fuck. I do like the characters but not enough to finish the book. There's no romance at all, they're just feeding from each other. The last chapter I read felt like it was taken directly from Twilight. If I get bored I might come back and finish this book but at 68% it felt like there was no real conflict and the whole plot was going to be Lenore coming to terms with being a vampire. I also wanted more romance, I do like a slow burn but this isn't a burn at all. Life passes too quickly to read books that bore me.

Eeeek! This was dark and sexy and a lot of fun. If you’re looking for an adult vampire romance, look no further. There were some scenes that absolutely had me sweating! I loved the chemistry between Lenore and Solon and you can bet I’m going to be diving into the next book as soon as the audio available. Reminder to check content warnings before you go into this one, there’s various things, but in particular, some dub-con early on in the book.

This was the vampire romance I NEEDED in my life right now. I've been lowkey going through 👏🏻 it 👏🏻 in my love life. I've been sad about personal things and had a slight reading slump because of it. All of this being said, this book brought me out of it. The story between Lenore and Solon made me melt. A grumpy, nearly thousand year old vampire falling for a half vampire, half witch who has always felt alone and not seen? And he's the first person to truly see her? PLEASE! If you haven't read this yet READ 👏🏻 IT 👏🏻

Not as dark as I was expecting but it was a quick read. Loved the chemistry between Lenore and Solon

This was the first book I’ve read by Karina Halle and I really enjoyed it! It took me a little bit to get into the book but I think it was everything I wanted and expected in a sexy, dark vampire romance. Can’t wait to pick up book 2!

4.5 stars ✨ Hot vampires and witches? Check. Great world building and a unique urban fantasy? Check? Steamy af?! 🔥🔥 check! This was so good. Well written, sexy, with a strong plot line and intriguing characters. It started off a bit slow, but once it starts going, it was un-put-downable!! Solon gave me so many Lothaire vibes- which if you know me is my favorite PNR romance ever 🤣 I only docked it down a bit because the ending/last 10% felt a little abrupt and over the top. But there is a second book coming and I cannot wait!!!

“I’ve lived for so long, so long, and yet I feel like I never really lived. That time was something that didn’t matter anymore, that there was no consequence to my life, no more beginnings, no fresh starts. No more chapters. But you…you brought a new chapter to my life. A chapter where my life has purpose.” His eyes open and he peers right into me, stealing my breath. “You’re my purpose.” Lenore has led a captivating life. The ability to express herself freely, loving parents and going to school for something she loves is at the top of her list; but within that, she has this feeling that she’s never been quite alone in that journey. She’s constantly looking over her shoulder, and questioning if she’s losing her mind over it. Absolon. Like his namesake, he is a handsome prince, well, more like a king- a vampire king. He’s elusive, beautifully curated and has a darkness seeping under the surface that keeps him at arms length to everyone he comes in contact with. “Black Sunshine,” by Karina Halle is a standalone dark paranormal romance. It gives us Lenore and Absolon. On the outside they look like complete opposites; one being a free spirit, and the other afraid to feel. It presents Lenore in a peculiar situation where she finds herself discovering that she has lived her life quite literally cloaked in lies. She has some jagged pieces of herself that she has to now quite literally grab onto and learn to live all over again. This book was absolutely incredible. If you love vampires, blood and forced proximity, along with an impeccably dressed alpha vampire king and a girl that continues to fight for herself- you need to pick this up. I loved the plot, the character development and the overall chemistry that Lenore and Absolon had. I’m SO anxious to see if there is more to come with this, since it was just so beautifully written.
