This was such an enjoyable read loved the world and can’t wait for the second book which surprise surprise is out next month well well well didn’t I time that well wink wink.

This book had everything I love 

- enemies to lovers

- drunk MC dirty dancing 

- he would burn the whole world down for her

- small love triangle lots of angst and jealousy mwahahah

- the banter, the pacing, the pining, the TENSION

I have no idea where I picked up this book, but I'm glad I did!

The world and magic system felt a bit too similar to Grishaverse, but after the beginning it didn't bother me too much.

I enjoyed the multiple points of views and liked the writing style a lot!

As for the characters, I adore Will, like Aya, and don't know what to think about Aidon ...

I feel a bit of disappointment in this title. It seemed like anything fresh in it was eschewed in favor of focusing on tropes. I know a lot of people live for a good trope, and I am not always against them, this just had potential that was ignored to build them up, and it made me frustrated. I had a hard time getting into the storyline because so much revolved around The Chosen One Prophecy and the Enemies to Lover/reverse harem triangle. This was maybe not entirely for me (I am not anti-romance but I like when it is more woven into plot), so I am trying to rate this based on what I think of it for people that it is for. Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the ARC

The storyline & characters were solid & once I got into it I had a good time BUT the style of writing and the linguistics of the characters did not match up to an adult novel writing style. 

Possibly because I was listening to the audio but the amount of times gods-damned, gods-forsaken, and hells was used got extremely obnoxious. Yes in most high fantasy there are multiple gods and multiple hells, but the majority of the characters integrate other cursing into their vernacular. 

If this hadn’t been classified as Adult Fantasy, I probably would have rated it higher.

While the target audience for this is classed as adult, I would definitely class it more for the new adult classification in my head. It read a little YA in parts, but not in a juvenile style.

The world building was interesting and made clear in smaller digestible bites, teasing it out slowly over the first few chapters, which helped it not feel so info dumpy.

The characters all came across as morally grey, which I enjoyed. But they were incredibly layered as you went through the novel, constantly catching me off guard.

The romance isn't so much present, more that it is hinted at, and you are lead on an inticing journey, and the author slowly weaves towards the potential for more in the next book.

Did I enjoy reading this? I found it gripping to an extent, especially as the last few chapters began to play out. However, I am still on the fence as to whether I will continue with the series. That decision is for another day.
