Reseña en español en mi blog: https://natified.com/2017/01/20/2017-... -- So long. So wordy. So repetitive. It's 1930 and a boy has disappeared from his home. 80 years later, a policewoman finds his story and, trying to avoid the problems she faces in her life, decides to investigate what happened so many years before. As in all Kate Morton stories, this book is written in three different times (1930, 2003 and 2013), so you discover little tidbits of information from each era as you read, getting to know each character and their motivations. I've read three other books by Kate Morton and this is the first time that I can't finish a book. It's very long, it's very wordy and I got tired of trying to figure out what happened by reading many things that felt like filler, it just never got to a point where I became interested in what had happened to the boy or to the protagonist (she's very dull, I was at page 260 and knew very little about her, so I wasn't invested in her story at all). There are just too many stories in between (example: how the boy's parents met. Why go so far back? Why so many details?). I just got tired and it went straight to my DNF pile. I don't know if I'll ever pick it up again.

My favourite Kate Morton book so far. The Lake House is a mix of mystery and family saga exquisitely written . Morton's writing is very rich and compelling, it pulls you into the story from page 1. She weaves past and present perfectly, and she knows how to create a story that may seem predictable but it the complete opposite. I just loved this book.
