WOW, JUST WOW!! I THINK I'LL HAVE TO ADD THIS TO MY FAVORITE!!



The premise of this book is actually very poignant and heartbreaking. There is so much emotion in me until this very moment and I can't shake it off of me, and I know this feeling will linger inside of me for a very long time.I can feel the sadness and tragedy, this heart wrenching story creeping into my bones. This is one deep chasm of mystery and I am very fortunate to fell right into it. Every characters contributed a lot to the story, and I loved how everything makes sense and all of the puzzle pieces fall into their respective places so accurately at the end.

While reading the last parts of this book, there are so much words piled in my head that I was positive I was able to put all my thoughts in this review. But I am not so sure anymore. I am in so much in awe of how wonderful this book is. As I was starting this book, I actually had doubts if I was going to like this book, much less love. I thought this was going to be generic and boring. I was hesitant as well because I thought I was not going to like how the author tells her story. But the air of mystery that surrounds this premise is what kept me going. And I've never been so glad at continuing anything despite of my hesitations. At the beginning, I set an initial rating for this book. I wanted to see if it would change for the better or not. And holy moly, it went to up the roof by the time I finished.

I've made quite a lot of theories about the disapperance of Theo Edevane. I can't help but make my own conclusions myself, variety of conclusions piled on top of each other. With the help of each characters' perspective, there are pieces of clues about what actually happened that Midsummer of 1933. You don't know if those were significant or not, but with state of the situation, you will really consider every possible angles.There are some contradicting situations, but you will realize that those situations were not contradicting after all. With every chapter, you will discover something and nothing at the same time.There are times that I thought I've come to the right answers, a lot of times actually, but hell, it still shocked me to the core every single time each revelation unfolds. How wrong I was with a lot of the conclusions I made. You thought you knew what really happened, but every clues can lead you to either the wrong or right path. You will know what I mean if you read this book.



As I make my way through the story, there are certain points that I didn't liked that much. It was good, more than good actually. But those parts
ruined my total enjoyment. Or so I thought. Because of how much I loved this book, I find a way to justify these points according to how helpful to the story these points actually were.

(1) This was not a quick read . At least not for me. It took me a few days just to see the ending of this book. That was one of the reasons as to why I hesitated. I always thought that reading a book that would take much more days than my usual reading pace, regardless of my busy schedule, was not really worth it, but I proved myself wrong. The story was slow- paced, yes, but I think I would never have it in any other way. The plot itself requires a thorough narration and the mystery would lose its charm if the author didn't write this book the way it was. (2)The very detailed narration threw me off a bit as well. I was thinking that it was so unnecessary to tell the story with so much details but the more I read, the more I realized how important it was to be told in such ways. (3) The way the author handled the story with multiple perspective.  I am not against multiple perspective kind of narration, but I like it if authors handle it very well. With so much characters that were told one after the other, I tend to forget the the last thought of character A because it took a few chapters in between, chapters that were spent with other characters, before continuing where character A was left off. But even with this flaw, though I no longer consider this as a flaw, the way the author assembles the perspective of each character was actually necessary to the story. Without the way the author constructs each chapters the way she did, it would actually spoil the whole story. It was built the way it was to let the readers make their own conclusions. In short, these points that I used to consider as weak points were actually a very helpful and necessary points to solidify this book. 

I AM SO MUCH IN LOVE WITH THIS AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS WONDERFUL ENGAGING BOOK SO MUCH!! THIS IS NOT SUSPENSEFUL OR WHAT BUT IT WAS A REALLY BRILLIANT STORY WITH SO MUCH MYSTERIES!!!

I am such a fan of Kate Morton after reading The Distant Hours last year and this one was no exception. I was soon drawn into the family, feeling like a fly on the wall to their relationships and stories. I really liked how we saw several points of view, two of Alice Edevane one past and one present and then Sadie as she starts to become charmed by the house and the mystery that surrounds it. I feel like the mystery itself was well written and engaging, it kept me guessing until the very end.

I loved the descriptions of the Lake House and the time that the family spent there, there is something entirely romantic about it, Kate Morton always excels at depicting her environments and families and it's something that really makes her stand out. Of course, there was also a second mystery, a missing woman which was the reason for Sadie's career break in the first place. Again, this played it's part on the periphery of the story but I still wanted to know the answer. My only complaint would be that it did feel a bit long but all in all it's a captivating read.

Slow-moving at the start but flew through the second half once it hit its stride. I thought the mystery was well plotted and sufficiently twisty with a satisfying end. The ending was a little too neat and corny for me, and I thought the subplot wasn't really necessary but overall I did enjoy reading this and it didn't feel 600 pages long to me at all. 3.5 stars

Kate Morton is one of my favorite authors and I have loved all of her books. The Lake House was no different, except that I loved it right up until the ending. I had an idea where it was going, but I hoped that I was wrong because it was just too coincidental. Nope, I was right. It came together a little too easily at the end. Still a great book. Can't wait for the next one!

-I really enjoyed the plot and how she slowly unfolds it all.
Now I know that I am mentioning it as a good thing however I would just like to say that it was one of the reasons why I rated this book a 3.5. I really appreciated all the little details but sometimes it was too much and I just wanted the story to move along.
-I also enjoyed how I could never figure out what the outcome would be! I cant tell you how many times I thought I had it all figured out BUT I was wrong each of those times.
-I loved loved LOVED the romance parts of the book. Okay maybe it’s because romance is my favorite genre but the way Kate speaks about love really had me feeling ALL of the emotions.

This was my first time reading Kate Morton and I don't think it will be my last. Morton uses the length of this book to flesh out every character into something real and believable. The ending, after facing so many twists and turns throughout the mystery at the center of this story, left me breathless. Every bit of the story is so well-crafted, well-explained and leaves very little to be desired by the end. I loved getting to know these characters and seeing them painstakingly unravel the truth. Knocked half a star for some slower bits where the investigation and research got a bit repetitive and tedious, but the vast majority of it was thoroughly enjoyable (the payoff is, in my opinion, huge). Morton's writing is stellar. Highly recommend to anyone who loves a good mystery!

This is my second Kate Morton book and she didn’t disappoint. The intricacies that are woven through the storyline are captivating. You think you’ve got it figured out but then another detail reveals itself and she’s got you second guessing previously held notions. The characters are fabulous, captivating, and multidimensional. What qualifies as “good” and “bad” isn’t just black and white, and the ending was so satisfying. I can’t wait to get my hands on another one of her books.

I think this is my favorite book of the year. I cried and felt such attachment to all the characters and to Loeanneth. Kate Morton has such talent for making such ordinary stories of places and people become fantastical ; almost magical. I loved every moment of this book and legitimately didn't want to finish because I loved it so incredibly much. Kate Morton you are a master.

The Lake House is quite satisfying and well suited for people who love nothing more than to curl up on a chilly night with a good novel in the autumn and winter season. I thrive in this season when it comes to reading and Kate Morton’s latest release fits the bill perfectly. 

Add one hot beverage, one cozy blanket and this novel for the perfect night in.

With alternating time frames and narration, all spanning across decades, it keeps readers guessing and most importantly feeling; from the moment you read its blurb, you’re captivated in a way that only a good story can manage. I daresay this little gem has earned its place amongst my favorite works of fiction and that there is no other novel this year more deserving. 

Needless to say, it’s easy to fall into the pages of The Lake House and absolutely is something special. That’s a word you’ll find me using frequently in my review: special. Even better, the way each story is weaved together and solved is remarkably beautiful and mysterious. It’s heart warming, it’s satisfying.

And surely it will bring in a crowd of new and eager fans for Kate Morton. If ever there were a time to dip your toes into Kate Morton’s releases, it is now. This autumn, if you are looking for a treat for yourself, The Lake House should be at the top of your list.
