This is not my first Katee Robert book, so I definitely knew what I was getting into. Court of the Vampire Queen was entirely different than what I was expecting. It featured very little plot and very explicit smut almost every chapter.

I enjoy books like these. Sometimes people just want a spicy read with little plot to follow along with. Robert is definitely well known for her smut and she does NOT disappoint with this one. 

This book features a MMMF romance. I recommend checking TW/CW before reading. I enjoyed the relationship between the main characters. It was not without flaws, but it was a well written relationship. Can’t wait to see what Katee Robert does next!!

Now... I knew it was a smut read going into this. I was looking for vampire smut and this was perfect for what I was looking for. So I won't hold that against it as much. With that being said... I felt like I was reading a wattpad story rather than something from a published author. I have read these tropes before so it is hard to impress me. Considering this book is 500 freaking pages, it all went to fast and there wasn't enough build up. I hate slow burn romance but I hate a ludicrously quick one even more. A woman forced to live with a man because of xyz reason. Seen it. Right? She was planning to fight, to resent this vampire she's forced to be a blood bank and womb to. And they're fucking and catching feelings the next day? Where's the drive and dignity Mina had in the first chapter? Not even living there for a couple of days and we're having a threesome, few days later a foursome. Really? Come on. And then, just to have a reason to continue the smut - because that is the purpose of this book, not an actual story - she needs to get pregnant to kill her scary father. And that another thing!! Why are we building up for this showdown the ENTIRE FUCKING BOOK just for it too end so easily. What the fuck were we building up to??? Wasn't he suppose to be all powerful and they couldn't think of a plan to kill him? And then suddenly, just remembering Rayln's words, not even really being scared in the first place, Mina can SUDDENLY use her powers on her own without any training and kill her father with just a few swipes at the neck. Be so fucking for real. That honestly may be why I'm quite pissed and rated this book so lowly. Because we all know it's a smut book, there's no qualm in that, but if you're going to try and force a poorly written storyline in there, at least fucking TRY. 500 pages. And this is how the book ends? PLEASE.

With all of that being said, the polyam romance/smut plot was good. If more was built on that, I'd appreciate the book more. Perhaps making the bond and her powers more of the focus. Then like the next book can focus on her training and defeating her father. The three vampires are lovely. I just with there was more. More background on her new loves, more turmoil when it comes to her powers and their relationship. Despite it being 500 freaking pages it all went in like a blink of an eye. 

I may become generous when I think about it more and bump it up to a three star rating.

And to be completely honest it’s not that the plot was bad. The problem is I didn’t really care for Mina. Maybe it was just the writing style, but things were overly repetitive and almost seemed too…meh. The amount of times Mina felt something about one of the men, and said she was unsure of if it was due to “the bond” annoyed me quickly. HOWEVER. The spice was phenomenal. I mean major claps to Katee Robert for this. There is a ton of spice in this, dub-con, blood play etc. but she made it work. You get a little nervous when you see a book has those warnings but I honestly enjoyed the scenes. And she made each scene (and there are plentyyyy don’t you worry) unique.

At first I didn’t know if I liked the book or hated it. Now I think that this book was just not made for me.

I still enjoyed it and I can say that the beginning was addictive. I read the first 100 pages at a very fast pace, and loved it at that moment. But then I kept turning the pages and all there was was sex. This is vampire smut and the sex and romance were the main plot of the story. It was a little bit too much for me. I prefer when there is a plot and then a steamy or not so steamy romance as a subplot. 

I did like the romance though. Court of the vampire queen is a queer romance portraying a polygamous relationship between a woman and three men. It was the first time I read something like this and I did like it, I thought it was interesting and beautiful. But the thing is that I love when the characters are possessive, which was not the case here, obviously. Also the men kept keeping Mina out of the important decision or talking about her as if she wasn’t in the room and I could not support it. 

The end was underwhelming. I expected more action and the end was also predictable. There was nothing special about it, no plot twist or anything. 

I think it’s a good book for people who actually like adult romance/ dark romance and LOVE smut, to a point where that’s what they enjoy the most in a book. 

There’s a breeding trope (so pregnancy), which is I think the second most important plot. And Mina is heir to some kind of kingdom. She also finds out she possesses dangerous powers, she had no idea were hiding within her. And she fights for her and her men’s freedom. 

Also the main character kept fainting, did not seem really smart to me and kind of weak. Hopefully it gets better for her in the next books of the series ( they are not out yet), but I don’t think I will read them. There are probably better series in the same genre that I would enjoy more. 

For some reasons, Court of the vampire queen made me think a lot about Kingdom of the Wicked (which I enjoyed more). 

So I do recommend this book, I think it had nice things in it, but it’s not for everybody, be aware of that before buying it. It’s definitely hot and sexy and addictive. Perfect to read before treating yourself with a nice self care moment, if you know what I mean.✨
It’s also a fast read, a real page turner. The only reason why it took me so much time to finish it is because of school and the one thousand exams I had to do.

I only read this for the author, but what was that? Did they really just produce one major orgasm to break a spell? There was some furry taboo that I was not about, as well as some of the smutt scenes. I wasn’t sure if I was about the group action that was provided as well. I enjoyed the basic plot and idea to the story though, that’s why I decided to give this book a chance. However I would have been happy without the smutt because the basic plot was good.

Lackluster plot, No world building, no character development. Hell, i couldn’t even picture these characters in my head—much less know enough about them to care about them. This book is pure smut, which is fine, but it was kind of frustrating that I was expecting more of a plot and every time I thought the plot was gonna progress somebody was getting naked. Honestly, the only time the author used descriptive language was when describing the sex. If you just wanna read about vampire sex, then this is for you. But I am not the intended audience for this as much as i love steamy vamp romance 🫠

I never thought I’d read a book that made me feel like there was just too much sex and not enough character building, up until now! The story felt so rushed, honestly chapter 51 was probably the only chapter I enjoyed reading. I didn’t build any sort of connection with the guys or the main character…a bit underwhelming I’d have to say.

Was super good in the beginning but became super slow & dragged out toward the end. I wish it had a more inclining ending but it was overall okay!

I really wanted to like this book. It was just such a slog to get through. Mina repeated the same story about her upbringing and mistreatment at her father’s compound, In seemingly every chapter. I feel we didn’t get really good stories on her men other than, honestly, surface material. And for the love, Mina just was utterly helpless for 90% of this book, and even kept saying it again and again. There were some good parts scattered throughout that would compel me to keep reading, but then, we were right back to Mina whining. Even the sexy times were a bit much after awhile. So, as much as I like this author, I probably won’t return to this world if there’s a sequel. And three stars is all I can give.

This is the type of book for vibes only and I was not feeling the vibes. I thought there were fun moments but overall, I didn’t really like this. This is my first Katee Roberts read though and I’m still willing to try something else by her so I’m open to recommendations!
