This was a "cleanse" read after reading books of 15+ hrs and it was worth it. And having read this author's other books it gave me exactly what I needed/expected. Truly enjoyed it.

Solid book, loved the writing style, main character is a strong woman. Short but sweet

I was genuinely excited to read this book. Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. I did not feel any sort of connection between Briar and Sol because it seemed very surface-level and attraction-driven. There was no initiating event that enabled them to start trusting each other, so I didn't feel contented with how things turned out. However, I was very intrigued with the world building and the dynamics among the different creatures of the world as well as the bargainer demons, so I might read the next few books to see if they're better in some aspects.

This was my first monster romance. I’m not sure if this is genre is for me.

This was fine, I'm inclined to give it less stars but the character development was very nice. (in a book about demon deals and monster husbands i did not expect that to be a factor LOL)

The protagonist Briar overcomes a lot of latent guilt and fear from her past abusive marriage. And the developing relationship between her and Sol is very sweet. While there isn't much plot, there is a lot of slow relationship building as Briar and Sol navigate their marriage and desires and how to be there for each other.

I really liked the distinction between their wants in daily life, vs their wants in an intimate setting. (again, totally did not expect this from a monster fucker book lmaoo) But they way they discuss it after the heat of the moment is very sweet; making a distinction of what they want in a pretend game vs what they need in the partnership. Lots of themes of consent in this series, yay!

The characters had a tendency to circle around the same thoughts over and over, which got to be a little tiring in a story heavy with internal-monologue. The healing salve also kinda icked me out, I can appreciate what the author was doing but I still felt like... oh no it's not supposed to be that uhhh intense 😂

Anyway there's really not much plot at all. The ending drama was a little annoying, but more on the demons' part. I read the third book in the series and liked it much more, because that protagonist seemed to fit in the world more, and understand how the realm works.

I wish the human women got to interact more than they did just at the beginning of the book. Barely any relevant characters besides the leads, but that's the nature of the spicy novella.

An overall good read that I finished rather quickly: simple, straight to the point. Personnally, I quite enjoyed the Male Lead and the way he approaches his romance with the heroine. 

The relationship is sweet and romantic with some "spicy" scenes (rather tame for me, but for some, it might be enough). The s*x scenes were well written and did not make me wanna wash my eyes with bleach. 

I would recommend this novel for you, if you want some plot as well as some spice !

Might read the following novel soon enough !

this started as a gag gift but it was actually kinda cute. and smutty FOR SURE. living for Azazel, my king, my love. will I continue the series? only for Azazel.

i … have thoughts. like genuine thoughts, truly i do, but i can't seem to formulate coherent sentences out of them. it was wild from the start, really. the length, the writing — it all left something to be desired. it wasn't terribly executed, per se, but it definitely could have been given more. but i've always been a sucker for lengthy, detailed stories. fully fleshed out mythos, even with my smut, so i'm certainly biased. still it was a good binge-in-a-day book for funsies.

This was a bit better than I may have imitially thought (my last Katee Robert read was one star) but ultimately I was disappointed. The story seemed dull and not particularly interesting. It felt like it took forever to read. It was readable though and the steam was pretty good. But the ending fell flat for me.

Katee Roberts has done it again, brought the absolute FIRE HOT (heh, dragon) spice to a sweet monster romance. The FMC really grows and heals from her past trauma and the MMC (dragon) is so patient and loving.

This was a good, quick read. I would have liked if it was a little more of a slow burn, but overall I really enjoyed it. 

I conveniently finished this the day before the release of the 2nd book in the series! Excited to read the next book

I really loved this!! I did not expect to love the characters so much but here we are. Sol is a sweetheart but definitely the right amount of spicy. I like how he treats her, definitely. 

Not 5 stars because it just felt kind of short. I wanted some more development and it ended entirely too quickly for me. Wrapped up and moved on too quick. 

But I am so ready for an Azazel book and I need it ASAP.

Escaping a bad marriage, Briar Rose makes a deal with a demon. For seven years she finds herself married to a dragon leader after being chosen among other human women at an auction. Sol, her new dragon husband, wants a child. He’s given the chance to seduce her in order to accomplish this though it must be done on her terms. And should the union produce one, it will remain with Sol once the terms of the contract are met at the end of the seven years. Or will things change before the seven years is at an end?

Slowly the new husband and wife learn to care for and maybe even love one another. Briar works through the traumas that haunt her from her previous marriage along the way which allows her heal and become who she’s supposed to be.

The story grabbed my attention from the start and held my attention. I can honestly say I’ve never read a romance involving a partially humanoid dragon and human characters. Throw in a prehensile tail, two large pieces of male anatomy and you have a steamy read.

Briar and Sol are relatable characters. Briar comes from a horrible marriage that has scared her so Sol finds himself navigating and supporting her through some of the longer lasting traumas that still haunt her. Sol is patient, but in change and demanding at the right moments.

Before I knew it I was at the end of the book, wishing there was more of the story.
I’m looking forward to reading about the other monsters and the women they chose from the auction.

I read this bc of my friends 🐉👰🏻‍♀️ A dragon that cares, listens, defends you and is a gentleman? He was so patient with her and always empathic and compassionate with Briar's emotions. The smutt was chaotic and i laughed so much. Anyways, 4/5 for those reasons

Good lord this was a wild ride. I read it all in like a 5 hour nonstop session because I couldn’t sleep. I’m not sure how to feel honestly. Included marriage of convenience and a little insta-love. Also felt like the character development wasn’t deep enough to include as big an issue as domestic violence. Some of the character’s traits didn’t really line up with what domestic violence typically looks like. Nonetheless, with a little (okay maybe a lot) suspension of disbelief, it was a fun and certainly interesting read!

I feel really bad leaving this review because I'm a huge fan of this genre, and so many of my friends loved this one, but it irritated me to no end. I DNF'ed after the first spicy scene. 

My issue was the timeline. Let me paint a picture.

You've got five years with this monster. Five years where you're supposed to allow him to seduce you if you so choose. You've just come out of an extremely violent physical and sexual assault situation and your ex is dead (which is good but still shocking). You are shaken, scared, and intimidated by a new land and a new creature that you are apparently now married to. 

The issue is that all this beautiful tension and hurt and trauma was built up in the story, and almost immediately after getting married and realizing her new husband had two eggplants to work with, she immediately switched from "I'm scared and traumatized and have just been assaulted" to "I wanna hit that." It just didn't make sense to me, and to be honest, it was a little insulting to people who have survived situations similar to that. 

If there had just been one more chapter in between the curiosity of her new husband and the sex, one more chapter with character development, several months passing, and trust and a relationship built between them, it could have been a phenomenal slower burn with all the romance and the feels. Instead it felt cheap and fake.
