I read the first book of this duology a year ago or so and I absolutely adored it. It was the perfect book that showed what teenagers deal with from drinking to peer pressure, to sex and more. It tore at my heartstrings and the ending made me sob. I often still think about the book from time to time. 

When the author contacted me to read the next book, I knew I had to accept. As if it was ever even a question. I spent a year waiting for the sequel. And let me tell you, I am so glad I did. This book was even better than the first one, if that is even possible. 

It continues right where the first book left off so you will need to read the first book in order to understand what is going on. It follows the life of Cait after everything that happened. I don’t want to spoil anything but let’s just say Cait struggles to live her life.

What this book does fantastically well is portray grief. Grief pours out of this book. Cait is grieving after everything that has happened. Even when she is happy, she still feels sadness. I love how realistic it was. Grief never truly go away. It’s always there, in the back of your mind. 

Prepare to cry and prepare to shout with happiness. You will become instantly reattached to Cait and cheer her on every step of the way. This book has made its way to my top ten favorite books of 2020. But be warned, this isn’t an easy book to read. It deals with a lot of heavy topics that have carried over from the first book. Please make sure to be in a good mindset when you read this book as there are a lot of triggering events that I listed above.
