The rediscovering of The Eight through an audiobook was really good. It took me a while to warm up to the accents to some of the characters, but in the end, it worked out. I've forgotten a lot of the details and the scope of the plot, it is so much larger than I thought I remembered it as. I absolutely love this book.

I first read The Eight about 15 years ago and absolutely loved it at the time. I loved that the plot was both original and complex, and enjoyed reading the two parallel stories very much.

I recently came across a copy of the book and decided to read it again. Well, I have to admit I was quite disappointed. The story still flows and is quite exciting but some aspects of the book I found very annoying: historical figures popping up throughout the book (by the time Napoleon showed up I just felt like screaming "enough!"), the main character always hinting at future situations and constantly saying things like "I would soon find out how dangerous he really was", unbelievable coincidences and ridiculous romance bits. Finally I thought the book was much too long and deserved quite a bit of editing. It is still quite a fun read but not the kind of book I enjoy reading nowadays. I'll give it three stars just for old times' sake:)

I had forgotten about this book. I read it several years ago - but when I was reading the Da Vinci code I kept thinking - what was that book I read that i couldn't put down that was even better than this? And my friend Ellen reminded me of the name! It's great!

I was first introduce to this book by a friend, suggesting that I will love it, considering I share a lot of similarities with the protagonist, career, even birthday. 
I decided to get it but totally forgot to read it for a whole year until I saw it on my bookshelf and said “let’s give it a try”
I was so fascinated from beginning to end. The way you get to understand the characters, the mystery, the twists and turns. 
I always read the books really fast, but with this one, I enjoyed every minute, took my sweet time understanding every part and enjoying every line.
Totally recommended for anyone that likes this thing of real and fantasy stories going together.
