           A compelling story of courage, nature and revolution. Twelve-year-old Feodora is a wolf wilder, teaching captive wolves to become wild again. When a corrupt general threatens her family (including her wolf friends), she sets off to rescue her mother and exact her revenge. She is aided by a growing group of other children, who come with her to fight while the adults discuss whether they should fight back or do nothing and hope to avoid further angering the general. 

Beautifully written. I loved the friendship between Feodora and the wolves, who protect her and welcome Ilya into their pack.

But not everyone is enamored with the wolves, or with the fact that Feo and her mother are turning them wild. Feo und die Wölfe zog mich nicht nur wegen seiner außergewöhnlich schönen Gestaltung an sondern auch, weil ich das Thema und die historische Zeit des Titels wahnsinnig spannend fand. Als Kind habe ich am liebsten Weihnachtsgeschichten gelesen, die in Russland spielen und auch Leigh Bardugo hat mit ihrer Grischa-Trilogie die alte Liebe nur weiter verstärkt. Dennoch hebt Feo und die Wölfe einen eher traurigen Aspekt davon hervor, denn wir bewegen uns abseits des Zarenpalastes und erfahren nicht nur von dem traurigen Schicksal von Feos Familie sondern auch von den Bedingungen unter denen die Menschen in Russland zu leben hatten.

Feo steigt innerhalb der Geschichte schnell zu einer Heldin auf und die Abenteuer, die sie mit der Gruppe erlebt, die sich schnell um sie formt, erinnerten mich ein wenig an die rote Zora. Feo ist unglaublich stark, auch wenn sie ihr Geschick im Umgang mit Lebewesen eher bei Wölfen als bei Menschen beweist. Diesen Aspekt fand ich aber auch sehr interessant und lies Feo in meinen Augen als jemand sehr besonderes erscheinen und machte darüber hinaus die Wölfe menschlicher. Die sind mir darüber hinaus ohnehin sehr ans Herz gewachsen und machten die Geschichte besonders im Bezug auf Feo und die Botschaft, die übermittelt wird, rund.

Feos Mutter wird gefangen genommen, da sie und Feo sich weigern, die Wölfe, die sie bekommen haben, zu töten statt auszuwildern. Innerhalb der Geschichte versucht Feo nicht nur, ihre Mutter zu retten sondern muss somit auf General Rakow entgegentreten, der für ihr Schicksal verantwortlich ist. Dabei wird nicht nur der krasse Gegensatz zwischen dem puren Bösen und dem puren Guten sehr deutlich, Feo schafft es auch, nur mit wenigen Rückschlägen ihr Ziel zu erreichen. Das machte auf mich stark den Eindruck eines Märchens und rückblickend würde ich es auch als solches bezeichnen. An einigen Stellen hätte ich mir mehr Konflikt und vor allen Dingen Grauzonen gewünscht, ich hätte mir gewünscht, dass auf den Aspekt der Wildwolfer und auf die damit verbundenen Probleme näher eingegangen wird. Bedenkt man aber, dass wir mit Feo und die Wölfe ein Kinderbuch vor uns haben, finde ich den Aufbau der Geschichte völlig angemessen und zauberhaft.

Feo und die Wölfe entführt uns in die zauberhafte Welt Russlands, die jedoch mehrere Schattenseiten zeigt, wie wir im Buch feststellen müssen. Zusammen mit der Protagonistin Feo und ihren Wölfen machen wir uns auf in ein märchenhaftes Abenteuer, dass nicht voll und ganz perfekt ist, mich jedoch sehr gut unterhalten konnte.

This book definitely isn't a favorite but it is still a good book. Many of the characters are cool and fun to read about.

The plot was definitely interesting and fun to read about. I loved where this novel was set, as well. It was a good escape which is something I always look for when reading.
