The Revelry

This is a mystical annual party that happens in the woods for the senior students of Ember Grove. It’s the party that everyone knows the name but doesn’t know what actually goes on there. It’s the stuff of legends and snippets of stories; The only thing people know is that they all get their turn in their senior year. However, this time around it’s different and things take a turn when best friends Bitsy and Amy decide to gate-crash; despite it not being their turn for another year. Despite Bitsy reservations about it she wants to be there to support her best friend so they both decide to go; however, things are not the same after! Both Girls wake up the following morning without a memory of what happened but have matching scars on their fingers and whenever they try to discuss they can’t with any mention they are stopped dead in their tracks. Everything starts to turn rosy for Amy but for Bitsy things turn the other-way and she gets the bad luck. What happened to them at the Revelry and how can they set things right?

For me I enjoyed this read, it’s a fascinating concept for a book and it kept me hooked throughout with a story that I could get lost in, it keeps the reader guessing along as things start to happen and leaves you wanting more and to find the truth out with every page turn. I loved the mystery surrounding the revelry and the missing partygoers of years gone by as well as loving the 2 main character; The friendship between Bitsy and Amy was a little bland (the fighting and immediate forgiveness over and over was a bit repetitive) but it’s so often the case with friendships! I would have liked to see a few more shocking twists, but I do appreciate that this one read more like a light horror story than a real thriller or mystery. This one was just a great book to sit back and get lost in when you aren’t looking for anything too taxing!
