Hugh may be on the mend from a bullet to the leg but he is driving his friends and partners nuts! The man cannot still still and he and his K9 partner seem to miraculously turn up at busts and shoot outs! The man is like a human lie detector, so when he meets a "friend" of his partners girl friend, he knows she is not on the up and up. The man won't rest until he knows all of Grace's secrets. Grace (aka Kaylee) just wanted a couple of dates with Prince Charming, pity he turned into a nightmare! She was in the wrong place but at the right time and she learns just what kind of family her almost boyfriend is from. Now on the run and hiding out with the help of a relocation specialist her friend Penny got her in touch with, she is hiding out and trying to keep below the radar. So why does life keep putting the insufferable, annoying, irritating Hugh in her path! But when he picks the lock of her home (and the bathroom of the diner!) she realises Hugh is not going anywhere. But when someone starts taking pot shots at her, Hugh is the only one who can keep her safe. Hugh can push buttons like a ninja! He is cocky and annoying but sweet and sexy too! Grace is no pushover and has a zinger or too in her arsenal. Together they are fireworks and I enjoyed watching them ignite! I'm ever so excited to see that the lovely Otto may just get his HEA soon. That man brings new meaning to the phrase Doomsday Prepper!! Lexi and the kids are cuteness personified and I loved Hugh's 2 sided conversations with his k9 partner.

Ever since I read Run to the Ground, I was eager to learn more about the secondary characters. Therefore, when I learned the sequel, On the Chase, would be Hugh’s story I was excited. My excitement further increased when the publisher offered me an eArc in exchange for an honest review. What The Story is About. Kaylee Palmer is happy and contented with how her life has unfolded. She had a great job, a perfect boyfriend and a comfortable life. Then the unthinkable happened. All it took for her life to come crumbling down was the witnessing of a gruesome scene. Trusting law enforcement was not an option, therefore forcing her to move to Colorado and assuming a new identity. Keeping a low profile would be easy if it were not for the attractive K9 officer Hugh Murdoch. Hugh Murdoch is on medical leave, after suffering a serious on the job injury. He is itching to get back in the field, but his constant interference in ongoing cases, when he should be resting, is driving his colleagues crazy. When he met Grace, he believed she was hiding something, and he is determined to uncover her mysteries. My Views. The Characters. Hugh is funny, caring, hardworking, determined and charming. Although sometimes he crossed the line with his lock picking skills. It was hard not to like him even though he was annoying at times, to which his friends and Grace could attest. He kept me laughing for most of the story. It would seem he does not take things seriously, but that was far from the truth. He if all round fun-loving person. Kaylee/Grace is brave, funny, caring. I took a while to warm up to her, but as the story unfolded, she grew on me. I understood her reaction (not that I was in agreement) to the new life she had to assume. After working so hard for her achievements, only to go back to living the life she thought she had escaped. The Romance I enjoyed the interaction between Hugh and Grace, which was filled with humour, banter and passion. Their chemistry was undeniable, and I enjoyed watching them trying to work out their feelings for each other. The Suspense The story packed full of action and suspense that made for a page turning read. The danger they faced had me holding my breath at page turn. The Supporting Cast We received updates on the lives of the characters from the previous installment. Jules siblings are so adorable and the romance between her and Theo is as strong as ever. I enjoyed the bond of friendship, which existed between Hugh, Theo and Otto. They were a great team, and it is evident they cared deeply for each other. The Story I had questions regarding the scene Grace/Kaylee witnessed. I was hoping for more information especially as it relates to the victims and their identity. Were they innocent parties or were they criminal elements? Conclusion/Recommendation I thought this was a great addition to the series and I am eager to have Otto’s story. If you are a fan of small town romances filled with suspense and non-stop action, then you should try this series.

Check out this and my other reviews at My Blog, Facebook, Google+, Twitter and Pinterest Copy received from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review ★Book Basics★ Genre : - Contemporary Romance Series : - 2nd in the series Love triangle? - (view spoiler)[No (hide spoiler)] Cheating? - (view spoiler)[No (hide spoiler)] HEA? - (view spoiler)[Yes (hide spoiler)] Would I read more by this author? - Yes Rating - 5 ★Review★ I adore this author and really enjoyed her Search and Rescue series. So, I was super happy that she was starting a new series, and after really enjoying book 1, I was excited to start this one. For one thing, I am glad we are getting a continuation from the couple in book 1 (Jules and Theo), and the family as a whole, who I really loved. The start of this was a little creepy and graphic, and once the heroine got to Colorado, I did struggle to warm to her a bit. She seemed a bit too judgemental about her new surroundings and seemed to be more concerned with missing her old wardrobe of fabulous dresses than being on the run and hiding for her life. But I soon warmed up to her once we got to the build up of the relationship between Grace and Hugh. The back and forth flirty banter made the book tbh. I loved it. And Hugh in all his stalker annoying glory was a great hero. It is a great romantic suspense, with a good dash of humour in and I cannot wait to continue the series and see these couples stories continue. 5 stars
