Defy

Raven lives in the Conurbation, a society where, at the age of seventeen, Defects like her are killed. This is part of a government program designed to root out rebellion before it has the chance to start. However, despite the Overseer's best efforts, an insurgence has persisted, undermining the society and everything it stands for. Raven hopes to escape to a world where she can be exactly who she is without any limitations, but such hopes feel like fantasies, until she stumbles upon the rebellion by accident. They hide in plain sight, people just like her, Defects who escaped before or on their seventeenth birthdays.She has no way of knowing that she's still in danger, or that she will never be free unless she leaves the city entirely.
