A Very Bossy Christmas

Kayley Loring2020
What’s the actual last thing you’d ever want your executive assistant to see you doing the morning after you had hot, drunk, angry sex with her in a terrible hotel room? Dancing around your terrible hotel room to “Come and Get Your Love” like Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy—naked? Yeah. Me too. And yet, here we are. This isn’t even the most unprofessional thing that’s happened between us in the past couple of weeks. The first was when I agreed to let her have Christmas Day off, but only if she goes with me to three family gatherings as my fake girlfriend. The second was when she caught me belting out a Christmas song on stage in the awful hotel bar. The third was the hot, drunk, angry sex that followed, but I do not regret it. And she hasn’t even found out the real reason I need her by my side this holiday season. I need to pull it together before I do the dumbest, most unprofessional thing of all—fall head over heels in love with the only assistant who’s lasted more than a month at the job and claims to hate me and my moods more than she hates eggnog. And I’ve seen how much she hates eggnog.

I absolutely adored this audiobook. Kayley has swiftly snagged a place in my heart with not only her writing but her audio casting as well. Coincidentally her writing tends to have a solid amount of dialogue, which I love, allowing it to transfer to audio beautifully so that could possibly be why. No matter what it is, she’s hooked me! And A Very Bossy Christmas is no exception to her style of hysterical yet sexy banter and sneak up on ya feels. Declan and Maddie are a pair you fall for without you even realizing, they go together that well. Where Declan is a workaholic and Maddie thrives on the balance, she thrives on the remembering why she works so hard. It makes them click, the connection inevitable. Not to mention how freaking hot their attraction is! Once they cross that line it is so. damn. hot. Both Connor Crais and McKenzie Cartwright did a fabulous job bringing these characters to life. The accents! They both had me laughing until tears were rolling down my cheeks! As someone who lives in the surrounding NYC area I have to say it was truly a delight listening to these two portray these roles. This book has everything you could ever want I’m not only a holiday story but a romance in general. It’s funny, sexy as hell and heart warming. Exactly what I needed to pull me into the holiday spirit.

I tend to listen to every book that lists say are like “The Hating Game.” I don’t see the similarity in this one. I didn’t really care for the male character of this book, didn’t feel like I got to know the female, and I couldn’t see what they had in common or liked about each other besides their attraction (which is 95% of the book). The names of the chapters were creative, and I’ve never written a book so who am I to judge? It just wasn’t my style I guess.
