Charmer is one of those feel good listens with the perfect touch of emotion. I laughed out loud, I awww’d, I SWOONED. This book has everything you want in a timeless romantic comedy. Coffee shop waitress that knocks the sweet and deliciously dirty indie rocker off his feet, what starts as Nico’s muse turns into a whole lotta love between him and Kat. Nico, who is narrated by Jason Clarke is such a swoon factory! Ugh, that indie rocker who is all about having fun who falls hard and fast. He doesn’t hide his feelings whether it’s how bad he wants to have Kat underneath of him or the fact that he actually wants more. Nico falls for Kat’s son, Tate, just as quickly and man, talk about an ovary overload! There isn’t a single thing I disliked about him. Jason Clarke was fantastic with his narration, solidifying why he’s always a go to for me. He brings out all the growly, gravely goodness for this character but is still his usual smooth as sin self. Nico’s character has him saying all the things you want to hear. I have to say that Jason’s grandmother voice in this one had me ROLLIN’! I think it may be my favorite supporting role I’ve ever heard him perform. Kat Dempsey! Narrated by Mackenzie Cartwright, is a heroine that you fall in love with just as easily. I wanted to hand her a glass of wine and be her friend while listening. She’s put her child first, as mothers do, for so long that she doesn’t know how to navigate her feelings for Nico. How do you fit your life with a 6 year old into the musician world? Kat learns how to find her way back to her true self with the help of her family and her new found love. Relying on others and asking for help isn’t easy for her. She’s bold, smart and headstrong, everything you love in a heroine. Mackenzie is a narrator I found not too long ago and ever since my first listen I’ve really enjoyed her voice. She’s got that warm but strong best girlfriend who would have your back vibes and it brought Kat to life beautifully! Her effortless ability to voice the side characters and keep you entertained is top notch. This was my first title by Kayley Loring and I will definitely be back for more! Especially with audio, this casting fit so perfectly. I throughly enjoyed listening to this book. It’s funny, it’s heart warming, the characters are really relatable, even for Nico being a star! I loved the side characters just as much as the main. Everyone played a pivotal role in this must listen story of family, love and happily ever after. And I absolutely adored it!
