The story of this book is mostly placed during 1920's to 1940's which is during second world war. Due to this it quite covers some big names and history of Europe during that time.

When it comes to story it is about a Butler ( Mr.Stevens ) working in Lord Darlington's House and his aquients and how he manages the guests and house. It in great detail talks about "Dignity" and his take on life and staying true to his profession.

Once his great / young years of service is gone, the house will go into the hands of an American and he will learn that Mr.Stevens had not gone afar from the surroundings of that house in few decades, so he encourages him to take his ford and make a short pleasure trip. Though he is reluctant initially, he makes his Mind to go on this trip and also meet his old colleague, that is where actual story begins and ending of the novel is too good.

I have really enjoyed the book and the way author had brought a simple story of few characters to a great ending and gives an amazing respective to readers is to be appreciated a lot. Definitely worth a "BOOKER PRIZE".
