such a pretty collection of poems. the rush of nature motifs subsumes the human moments in a way that folds us people back into the natural world. yosano sometimes slips into soggy sentiment, but overall i really enjoyed these poems! despite coming to “modern” poetry later in life, yosano writes longer poems with just as much flair as she does tanka, and the structural freedom gives her more room to expand interesting moments in detail.

Dalam periodisasi puisi Jepang, tentu sebutan Era Akiko (The Age of Akiko) bukan teriakan kosong. Puisi-puisi (termasuk Tanka) dalam buku ini adalah perwujudan dari seorang "Dewi Puisi"—julukan paling populer yang disematkan padanya.  

Akiko bermain sulap, sulap yang indah dengan membawa serta cinta, rindu, duka, dosa, dan kemanusiaan dengan begitu melankoli bersama image 4 musim yang mewarnai seluruh Tanka-nya (puisi pendek 5 baris). Selain puisi tradisional, Akiko juga banyak menulis puisi modern bergaya barat, berikut serta nilai-nilai seperti feminisme, individualisme, dan sosial-reformasi.
