I got very attached to all the characters and was sad when it ended. Although it was a nice conclusion, I wish we would've gotten to see more of the demi-demon and would've liked to see what happened to the kids and where they went after escaping. I would love it if she wrote another book about the kids taking down the Edison Group with the help of Simons's dad and getting to see the relationship between him and Tori develop.

The only thing that keeps this from a 5 star rating is how incomplete the series feels and I need more. But the next trilogy involves different characters and I just feel like Chloe and Derek's story is completely unfinished in the worst way.

For one thing, I'm having these feelings for a certain antisocial werewolf and his sweet-tempered brother—who just happens to be a sorcerer—but, between you and me, I'm leaning toward the werewolf. Not normal. My friends and I are also on the run from an evil corporation that wants to get rid of us—permanently. Definitely not normal. And finally, I'm a genetically altered necro-mancer who can raise the dead, rotting corpses and all, without even trying. As far away from normal as it gets.

Honestly. This is one of the best series’ I’ve read in a while. I loved the characters. I loved the plot. I loved everything about it! I will definitely be rereading these someday.

The Darkest Powers trilogy, by Kelley Armstrong, comes to a thrilling, but slightly disappointing (in some ways), conclusion in The Reckoning. The adventures, and misadventures, of Chloe Saunders and her friends take a new direction in The Reckoning. Finally they have adult supernaturals teaching them how to manage their powers, and searching for a way to bring down the Edison Group and save their family/friends. Except for one problem, their powers are much stronger than anyone expected and suddenly Chloe and her friends are a danger...to everyone.

The Reckoning picks up a lot of the frayed ends from the Awakening; the Chloe, Simon, Derek love triangle; what happened to Aunt Lauren and Rae; the strength of their powers and more. One thing that wasn't explained, or expanded on, was the necklace, and by extension, Chloe's mother. The 'ruby' is meant to dull Chloe's necromancy aura to protect her from ghosts. Yet, as the books progress the jewel goes from a rich red, to a sparkling blue and finally becomes a soft purple. Why? Chloe's mother gave her the ruby to protect her from the ghosts she saw as a child, and she makes an appearance as a ghost. To say what?

Too many questions, and I'm desperately hoping to see more of Chloe Saunders in the future. As a protagonist she is determined, open minded and passionate about her goal of bringing down the Edison Group.

The Reckoning is the conclusion of Chloe's adventures, and may be a disappointing finish for anyone expecting a supernatural civil war and the ultimate downfall of the Edison Group. Fortunately, for anyone who hasn't gotten their fill of genetically altered supernatural teens, the Darkness Rising trilogy is coming soon. Book one, The Gathering, will be released in April 2011. Darkness Rising will be a companion trilogy for the Darkest Powers, and will hopefully tie up some of the lose ends.

The Reckoning is the final instalment in the Darkest Powers trilogy that began with The Summoning (see review), and The Awakening (see review).

A well-written ending to a well-written trilogy! I'm a bit sad to leave Chloe, Tori, Simon, Derek and everyone after three books about their escape and adventures, but I liked how it ended, so I'm ok.

Only two weeks ago, life was all too predictable. But that was before I saw my first ghost. Now along with my supernatural friends Tori, Derek, and Simon, I'm on the run from the Edison Group, which genetically altered us as part of their sinister experiment. We're hiding in a safe house that might not be as safe as it seems. We'll be gone soon anyway, back to rescue those we'd left behind and take out the Edison Group . . . or so we hope.
