Archer is in the middle of committing one of his murders and you can’t help but want to find out what happens next or why he’s even doing this in the first place. I simply couldn’t put this book down. I wanted to read Hushed because it was something I don’t normally see in YA novels, a thriller and it has an <a href="http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/lgbt" rel="nofollow noopener">LGBT</a> relationship. I thought Evan and Archer’s relationship was so profound. Evan could see the good in Archer and, in turn, Archer wanted to become a better person because of Evan. I really loved their moments together, right from the start. Now, Vivian and Archer’s relationship was the complete opposite. It was so emotionally destructive. They both needed some serious therapy after what they both went through as kids. Which made me think of Marissa, Vivian’s mom.  I understand that she was a nice person and took care of Archer when his mom wouldn’t...but why didn’t she take Vivian to therapy after what happened to her? I can’t help but think that if Vivian would’ve received help as a kid, things would have turned out differently for both her and Archer. And maybe Archer wouldn’t have had to feel like he needed to avenge her. I will say, in my opinion, this book is more for a mature young adult audience because there is some sex, some drugs, and lots of violence. The steamy parts are very well done, and not overly graphic if it’s something that worries you. Overall this book was so well thought out and written. I felt the emotions of all the characters...the despair, the guilt, the love, the hope. So if you haven’t looked into this book yet, do it now!

I was really hoping I’d love this, the summary sounds like something I’d love but I just didn’t enjoy it as much as I’d hoped. I didn’t really like Archer, he was too obsessed with Viv who was just using him, and he was mad at her for letting guys run all over her when he let Viv do the same to him. I skipped some bits towards the end cause I just wanted to know what was gonna happen. 

I think the story itself would make a really good movie or show, it was a really good idea I just didn’t connect with the writing or characters the way I would’ve liked.

I enjoyed this book quite a lot. One of my favorite parts was the lack of sexuality drama that Archer experienced. Throughout the novel, he underwent some attraction changes, shall we say, and this was pondered on briefly before it was accepted and moved on from. It's rare to find such a range of emotions dealt with so succinctly. I respect Kelley York for doing that so effectively. The plot is quite different to anything I've read in a while, but I definitely liked it. There are some things that make you think in this book, for sure. Character-wise, Vivian is such a manipulating little poo, to be honest. I wanted to scream at her in frustration. Near the end, there's a scene where you think it's all over and then BAM, she hits you where it hurts. And boy, does it hurt. I got quite emotional in parts of this book due to the connection I'd formed with Archer, who is in a constant state of confliction that could have easily been annoying but wasn't. Towards the end, I felt like I didn't really know Evan that well in terms of his life before Archer, but in this novel, there was so much other drama that it's understandably not the focus. It's a good book with an interesting storyline that I'd certainly recommend. Even if it's just for the last few chapters (daaamn, they got me good).

This was such an amazing book and it was hard to put down. It was intriguing and kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. It was a roller-coaster of emotions. I do wish though that we could have seen what happened after Archer got better.
