I've read a lot of Mariame Kaba's work, so I made sure to pick this up as soon as I could. Thankfully, it did not disappoint. As someone who is working on processing grief & finding hope, letting things radicalize me rather than lead me to despair, and finding solidarity in community, this book was exactly what I needed at this moment. I came away from this with a stronger understanding of the importance of hope and joy in movements toward collective liberation. Kaba and Hayes' work was something I read quickly, enjoying the important reminders within, underlining as I went, feeling more reinvigorated with each sentence I read. I particularly enjoyed the nods to the importance of poetry in movements, and the vitality of keeping your radical imagination alive. As Kaba says, "we need lots of dreamers and doers right now (227)."
