In It to Win It

In It to Win It A Wynn Hockey Novel

Wynn family bonds bend but never break. . . . “Kelly Jamieson is an auto-buy for me.”—Carly Phillips JP Wynn: I admit, I’ve made some bad choices—on and off the ice. Now all I want to do is show my team I can control my emotions while I’m playing and redeem myself with my family, especially with my brother, Théo. I hate that I hurt him and I’m determined to stay out of trouble. But the hot bridesmaid at Théo’s wedding is tempting me into another bad decision. A little flirting and a hook up with Taylor seem harmless . . . until Manny Martinez jumps me on the dance floor and starts beating the crap out of me. And just like that I add one more bad decision to my résumé. Taylor Hart: I always thought hockey players were hot. Now I think they’re crazy. Manny broke my heart when he got traded to another team and left without even a goodbye. Then he showed up at my best friend’s wedding. All I wanted to do was show Manny that I was over him. And the groom’s sexy brother, JP, seemed more than willing to be my distraction. But after the way everything went down, I want nothing to do with any of them. Easier said than done. Especially when Lacey’s new brother-in-law is always around. . . . And I keep thinking about the wedding night, when we snuck away to his room for the best sex of my life. Rating: ★★✬☆☆ (2.5/5 Stars) Title: In It to Win It Author(s): Kelly Jamieson Character(s): ― Taylor Hart: 24 years old, ― JP Wynn: 26 years old, Blue Eyed Setting: California Tag(s): Romance, Contemporary, Sports Content Rating: R POV: Alternates between Heroine/Hero Smexy Level: Hot Favorite Quote(s): N/A Overall Opinion: I loved the first book of the series but was left feeling nothing but disappointment when I picked up "In It to Win It". The plot was lacking that something something that originally drew me in like "Play To Win", the lead characters Taylor and JP were too immature got my liking and lacked real chemistry when it felt more sexual than anything else and the writing style felt completely different from the prequel and that obviously was a total turn off. I wasn't expecting this complete 180° in the Wynn Hockey series and it almost became too difficult to finish the series that as much as I love the author, I unfortunately decided to dropped the series. I'm hoping when book three of the Wynn Hockey collection is release, it'll be more worthwhile than "In It to Win It."

Play to Win had me wanting a sequel right after I was finished reading it. My expectations were pretty high for In It to Win It, but I wasn't disappointed at all. Kelly Jamieson gave me everything I wanted and more in this sequel. We get a glimpse of JP in the first book and he's not painted as the best character. It seems he stole his brother's girlfriend (that's not completely the case, but people judge him for it). He's a typical bad boy and even though in many cases he's not as bad as people seems, JP lets people blame him for things. He's so hard on himself even if an incident isn't his fault. JP is trying to change his image though even if he's his biggest judge. Taylor is a character we also met in Play to Win. I liked Taylor. She's really down to earth. Taylor just graduated college and is getting her career started. I loved how dedicated she was to the kids she's helping. It's important to be passionate about your work and she definitely is. Taylor faces some unpleasant surprises with her family and has to deal with a lot in this book and process what is happening. She loses her faith in love, but can JP change that? The instant chemistry between JP and Taylor was amazing. Sparks were flying! I can say one thing, this author knows how to write some steamy scenes! She knows what she's doing. There are definitely some bumps along the way, but I loved that JP really wanted nothing more than to get to know Taylor and be with her. Even if his biggest obstacle was himself. I loved reading about them finding their way to each other. The only thing that bugged me was Taylor settling for a guy she had no feelings for. She made things so much harder at times because of that. On top of the amazing romance, we get more information about the Wynn family drama. This family is complicated, but that made it pretty interesting. What I loved the most is even though it's clear so much is going on, it didn't take over the story. The author does this in a balanced way that only adds to the story in a positive way. She definitely set some stuff up for the next book that makes me excited. If you're looking for a book with amazing characters, steamy romance, humor, family drama and that leaves a smile on your face, definitely pick up In It to Win It.
