I loved it! I love seeing the characters I grew up with being adults and taking care of a younger generation and I love seeing the new generation coming into the world I loved so much. The story was fun, and the writing was very old school buffy-esque, with the wit and half made up words that every Buffy fan has built into their style of speech. I loved all the little nods to the old series' as well. It was perfect.

I am the EXACT target audience for this book and I loved it! Blake captures the identifiable “Buffy-speak” voice without it ever feeling over the top, just as gently campy and self-deprecating as the show. Frankie is such an enjoyable character to have as our leading witch/slayer, and her new generation of scoobies are so cute. I’m holding out hope for Frankie to be canonized as ace. 🖤💜🤍

3.75 This was a fun return to the Buffyverse! I loved catching up with some of the characters. It was a bit too campy for my taste. I didn’t love the explanation for how Frankie was “conceived”. I also felt the menstrual jokes where childish and unnecessary. While some parts of In Every Generation were eyeroll cringey, I did enjoy the mystery of the story line. It’s that mystery that will get me to pick up the second book.

Je sais que le livre n'est pas parfait. Mais j'ai passé tellement un bon moment. Et puis rien que pour le personnage de Frankie, je mets un 5 étoiles au lieu d'un 4.

So I started this in May and had to put it on hold half way thru. Why you may ask because my crazy brain decided it was a good idea to sign up for a ton of ARCs lol. If you want to see my reviews on those ARC go follow me on Instagram and here. But back to this review lol. I loved it like I thought lol. I loved being able to read about the Scooby gang and about Frankie. It brought back so many memories of my childhood. I do hope there is a second book cause I need more of Frankie, Hailey, and the rest of the Scooby gang.

I loved this book! As a fan of the show, this bailout back memories. The new crew of "scoobies" is endearing and funny. Can't wait foe the next one

Rating: 4.5⭐️ Thank you to the publisher for sending me an arc via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. When I saw that one of my favourite authors was writing a book set in the Buffy universe, I nearly screamed! I was introduced to the Buffy show by my dad and grew up watching it with him. It has a really special place in my heart so I knew I needed to check out this book! I’m going to say it. In Every Generation is straight up published Buffy fan fiction and I’m 100% ok with it! I was smiling like an idiot through this entire book. The mention of the characters from the show had me swooning and the little inside jokes from the series had me chuckling. That being said, if you’ve never seen the show you will not get those little inside jokes. But if you have seen the series, then you’ll truly appreciate the little remarks! I loved seeing the new Scooby Gang! Frankie and Hailey’s relationship was fantastic. Jake is exactly like Oz which I love. And seeing them interact with the original characters was amazing. I’m a little bummed that we didn’t get a Buffy appearance but I’m glad she was still mentioned in it. Overall, this book made me absolutely giddy and I enjoyed it so much! I’m really hoping that Blake will continue writing more Frankie the Vampire Slayer adventures!

Her mom, Willow, is slowly teaching her magic on the condition that she use it to better the world. But Frankie’s happily quiet life is upended when new girl Hailey shows up with news that the annual Slayer convention has been the target of an attack, and all the Slayers—including Buffy, Faith, and Hailey’s older sister Vi—might be dead. That means it’s time for this generation’s Slayer to be born.
But being the first ever Slayer-Witch means learning how to wield a stake while trying to control her budding powers. With the help of Hailey, a werewolf named Jake, and a hot but nerdy sage demon, Frankie must become the Slayer, prevent the Hellmouth from opening again, and find out what happened to her Aunt Buffy, before she’s next.
Get ready for a whole new story within the world of Buffy!
Review: For the most part I really enjoyed this book! I was scared going into it in the beginning because I haven’t watched any of the Buffy episodes so I was worried that this would be above my knowledge level of the series, but it wasn’t. The book did well to explain the important bits and it had a few moments where I think inside jokes would be placed. The book was wonderfully well written with well developed characters and the world building was well done as well. I also really loved where the book left off and I’m excited for the second one already!
The only issue I had with the book is that the book had a lot of POV switching and it was confusing to switch into different people suddenly. The book was also fast paced, which I enjoyed for the most part but I really would have liked some slower moments like during battle.
Verdict: It was great! Highly recommend for Buffy fans!

I thoroughly enjoyed diving back into the Buffy universe! So all the Slayers are presumed dead... and Frankie Rosenburg, Willows daughter, ends up being the next slayer.. While we know from slayer lore that a new slayer awakens when one dies, I think that we are going to find that some of them did survive..or at least im keeping my fingers crossed that they did at least Buffy.. I mean can Buffy every really die... and stay dead? I really liked that Frankie wasn't automatically great at fighting, or really anything that comes along with slaying.. although she does have the slayer instinct... Before she became a slayer the only thing she was concerned about was learning magic, and using it to help the environment. Then she becomes the next slayer, and the one and only slayer that is also a witch.. Her and her friends Haley and Jake help her on her patrols and it really reminded me of our original Scooby gang. We get so see and hear from some of our old friends like Willow, Xander, and even Spike who in this story became a watcher.. They are dealing with this thing with all the Slayers, but also because of that more and more demons/ vampires are making their way to Sunnydale.. So now thats something else they have to deal with.. They have to fight a Big Bad that shows up and wants to kill all the virgins.. (I really love who the Big Bad ended up being).. Im so happy that there is going to be more books in this series!.. I cannot wait to see what kinds of trouble Sunndale can bring for our new Scooby gang.. and finding out who if anyone actually survived that explosion..

Highlights

“That’s because she bloody didn’t,” said Spike. “Every couple of decades, some vampire comes around self-styling themselves the Blood Countess, and it’s all a load of bollocks. Some upstart roman- tic, fancying a return to the old days of lords and ladies and corsets and those bloody uncomfortable shoes with the top buckles. But they’ve never actually lived through it. They don’t really remember how bad it was back then, how uncomfortable and poorly venti- lated, how dark the nights were with no fluorescent lights. Everyone walking around barely knowing how to read, so bored by all the farming that they were starting wars every five minutes.” He took out a cigarette, though he thankfully didn’t light it, just put it between his teeth. “And nobody remembers the dysentery.”

Vi had to drive all the way to Portland to do any decent slaying, and even then she said the vamps were weird: They took their dogs every- where and chased victims down on pedal bikes, and half of them would only eat vegans.

Gentrified vamps. Lol

Face it, Frankie. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was never alone, and Frankie the Vampite Slayer isn’t going to be either.

You just have to learn to fly on your own. Don’t make me shove you out of the nest, little bird.
I love spike

“We have to do something.” Hailey shoved away from the table. “We’re vampires, and werewolves, and witches in a pear tree. We have to do something.”
