A pretty spectacular ending in my opinion!
This is definitely one of my favorite manga series of all time. It’s just so GOOD. There were a couple bumpy moments but I know I’ll be re-reading this series in the future. It’s just so well thought out and intense and interesting! There are so many characters but they are each so unique. They all have their own voice and I loved their individuality. 
Overall, a really awesome manga series I’m so pumped I picked up. Can’t wait to see what the author does next!

What starts as a pleasant class trip to a planet five light-years away from Earth becomes a nightmare survival trip back home from 5,000 light-years away. It’s the year 2063, and interstellar space travel has become the norm. Eight students from Caird High School and one child set out on a routine planet camp excursion. While there, the students are mysteriously transported 5,000 light-years away to the middle of nowhere! Will they ever make it back to Earth?! It’s the first day of Planet Camp, and Aries Spring couldn’t be more excited! She, along with eight other strangers, leave for Planet McPa for a weeklong excursion. Soon after they arrive, however, a mysterious orb appears and transports them into the depths of space where an unknown spaceship awaits them.

I knew going into this manga that I'd love it, and I did! But I definitely had some problems with it.
I mean, the beginning was pretty awful (as I've heard some other reviewers say). The way he introduced the main characters, especially Aries, was just ridiculous. I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be satire or if we were actually supposed to take that introduction seriously. She would say how 'ditzy' she is and then everyone ELSE would also point out how 'ditzy' and 'helpless' she is; isn't the whole 'helpless woman' trope dated and unnecessary? Not to make this review a feminist statement but, COME ON. Most of the dialogue in the beginning was just pretty bad. It wasn't natural and I just didn't know if I should be offended at the introduction of the main character or if it was simply satirical of women in manga. The beginning is the only reason this isn't 5 stars.
HOWEVER, the second half of this manga was AWESOME. It was almost a feminist statement in the complete other direction! It basically proved wrong the entire beginning, showing us how badass and smart Aries is, as well as the other female characters! Aries started to show how crucial a component she is to the team and the women were shown to be just as strong and resilient as the male characters. The action and everything was wonderful, the art style was really gorgeous and super interesting. I'm definitely continuing on with this series, but I just don't understand that beginning. I'm sorry but I'm over seeing woman as helpless; I hope the next one continues to show the tenacity and courage of ALL the characters.

The situation aboard the Astra intensifies as Zack reveals to Kanata that the shipʼs communication system has recently been sabotaged and itʼs likely one among them is the culprit! The crew members are overtaken with confusion and anger and begin questioning each otherʼs motives. Suddenly, the side of the Astra explodes! The controls and gravity system shut down, and the Astra is set on a collision course with the planet Shummoor.

Astra Lost in Space, Vol. 2

That. was. AWESOME. 
Oh my GOODNESS I loved that! This manga has everything I want in a series! Awesome characters, with amazing character dynamics and teamwork, as well as a super interesting plot. Everyone feels so fleshed out and I love that we got to know some characters better in this volume. My problems with the first volume completely disappeared; I didn’t have ANY problems with this. It was a blast! And I love that they’re in SPACE. I LOVE SPACE. The art is so flipping stunning and captivating and I gotta say, this manga series is a new favorite. With only two volumes, I’m completely hooked. I couldn’t put it down. Seriously can’t wait for volume 3!

The planet has plenty of food, water and sunshine, making it just like a tropical paradise and the perfect place to relax. Even the lone wolf of the group, Ulgar, starts to open up! That is, until he suddenly pulls out a gun and threatens to kill Luca! Could Ulgar be the traitor the group has been looking for?!
