4 stars. I first met Phryne Fisher on the TV Series "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries" that is shown on PBS (& Netflix) in my area. I loved the series, so I picked up the audiobook which is read by Stephanie Daniel. I was apprehensive to start reading the book, because of the negative reviews stating the TV Show is better! I shouldn't of worried - the book is as good and the narrator is excellent with all the accents and characters she has to portray.
This book takes place in the 1920s. Phryne is a wealthy, intelligent, adventurous, and currently bored English socialite who was born in Australia but later studied and lived in England and Europe. In this book she returns to AUS to try her hand in detective work.
A fun book, a fun heroine. She is a socialite who carries a revolver, drives a sports car, has loyal employees/friends who are defiantly not in her class strata. And she loves handsome, sexy men.
