Damn, this was a crazy ride. I mean 4 boys, 1 girl, a cemetery and magic?? As crazy as it sounds, that's exactly how the book was. I liked this concept of the dreamworld and the dangerous and potentially harmful magic that lies within it. Being 15, Liv didn't live (lol see what I did there..) a pretty exciting life. She had just moved to London and started a new school, which is pretty frightening considering she doesn't have the best experience with making friends. After experiencing some weird dreams with 4 super cute boys she actually gets to see and encounter them at school. Liv's best feature was her sarcastic humour, I couldn't help but laugh at most of her lines. As for the actual plot and story... It kind of just dragged on for the whole 322 pages of the book. I LIKED IT, don't get me wrong, but if it weren't for Liv's humour and awesome character and of course, the cute boys, I don't think I would've finished it. It's a shame because Kerstin Gier is really a great author and I happen to love her other books, The Precious Stone Trilogy. The sweet innocent romance between Henry and Liv was nice and light, which the book needed. It was cute and fun and I liked it. Again, the whole idea about the dreamworld and the dark dangerous moments consisting in that world were fun and interesting. Definitely read this if you are interested in that. so, what do we have here good: cute heroine, good language (translation), humor, a bit of romance, fast-paced and not boring story, couple of nice characters (heroine's little sister and their nanny) could be better: no explanation of WTF is going on, both on the "seeing other people in their sleep" part and "summoning a demon" part. it just happens, and the characters don't even discuss it much, they just accept it. well, I'd say it's a weak point, though a fairytale approach overall - this book is no Timeless trilogy, at least so far. it lacks Timeless' backstory and logic. the author could have also done a better job with characters - so far she mostly described Liv and just a little bit her sister. well, their mother too but this woman is an awful parent who doesn't care much about her kids, and I (personally) would like someone to deal with how she treats her daughters, like, confront her or something. Liv's love interest is also kind of flat - we don't know much about him and I couldn't form an opinion about him yet. for me he's more "an idea of a romantic interest" than a character i can think something about i've started the second book, anyway, and hope it will clear some things for me but it's far from my top-YA books list

Absolutely adored this book, it made me laugh, fall in love and surprised me a few times. I can't recommend this book enough to others. It reminded me a lot of Buffy The Vampire Slayer with Liv reminding me of a somewhat less girly Buffy. Now I have to wait for the next one -sigh- oh well, I'm sure it will be worth it

I feel very meh about this book. 1. Was the dream world ever explained? Like it's existence? You can definitely tell from the narrative that it's not a known, common thing among the general population. I listened to this on audiobook, so I'm not entirely sure if I missed it or if it just wasn't explained. 2. What is with the obsession of the main character's virginity? I know what place it had in the plot, but like - why was it mentioned so often? 3. Liv constantly referred to Grayson as her "new stepbrother" (which isn't even technically an accurate label at this point). However, she spent a chunk of the beginning of the novel obsessed with his sweater and refusing to give it back. (Now, this does connect to the plot, but like - it just came off weird.) She would also occasionally mention how attractive he was. It was a weird vibe. 4. Not exactly a con, but this novel read a lot younger than I would have expected. I know that it's young adult, but I felt like the narrative read more like a girl in middle school (aside from the virginity obsession). It didn't work for me, but definitely could for a younger audience.

** spoiler alert ** I really enjoy Kerstin’s writing. Her characters are so likable, my only complaint is “does everyone has to be blonde?” but I will not make a fuss about it because first is not my book and a writer can write what they please, and also the story is really interesting. I love when a book has me thinking who is the villain and all my guesses are wrong. Also is it wrong for me to want Liv to be with Grayson?? I’m evil I know!! Another thing I enjoyed was the Tittle tattle blog from Secrecy. I gives it a Gossip Girl vibe. For some reason after every entry, I’ll say in my mind xoxo Gossip Girl 🤣... I know my apologies. Anyway I’m already pressing play to Dream On!! I can’t wait!!

What fun this book was! I'm already quite partial to Kerstin Geir, ever since the Ruby Red trilogy was translated to English. Dream A Little Dream has everything you need to get lost in a quick read. Adorable family drama, a protagonist with a sharp wit, and some pretty boys who are hard to look away from. Best of all, there's no love triangle! YA abounds with these, and so reading a book where that isn't necessary is essentially the best thing ever. Let's talk about Liv, our protagonist, first. I absolutely adored her. Liv's character is adorably awkward. She's sweet, has a wit to be reckoned with, and doesn't fold under pressure. In fact, what I loved most about her was how vibrant she was. Even in the face of darkness, because trust me when I say that this book isn't all sunny skies, Liv shines. She's a logical character which doesn't quite stop her from being all swoony over boys, but it does make it much more fun to read. Even better, is the family relationship in this story. Liv's mother travels constantly for work. As such, Liv and Mia are shipped off all over the globe and never really settle. Their mother is a bit flighty, but her love for them comes through. Still, it's the relationship between Liv and Mia that takes center stage. These sisters are so sweet! Sure, there's the normal banter and bickering. There's also a ton of adoration and support there too. I love sister relationships, and this one was perfection. Story wise, things move quickly but there's always just enough explanation to make it easy to follow. I'll admit that there are a few plot holes, I definitely had some questions at the end, but I'm heartened by the fact that this is a trilogy! I need more as soon as possible.
