Written in the POV of Luke, it was unique to see him discovering the truth about the Jedi purge and the Jedi order. I very much enjoyed how the book explains how and why a lightsaber is constructed using the force. In fact, the force itself and how Luke learns to use it without the help of a master was really well done. It was also nice to Luke have a love interest.

The seismic charge!!!! That was so amazingly described. 

However, the first half of the narrative doesn't flow very well, and instead of reading like a story, it feels like reading a game. 

Overall, there were many great parts of the story. I feel like Kevin Hearne really nailed Luke's character and personality and feels super consistent as, at this time in the Canon, he is still very new to the whole Jedi thing and still learning what it all means. His life has changed in so many profound ways, and the way this book dwells on that is done very well.
