Famine

Abstract: Famine has plagued human societies almost since their inception. Today, factors that cause famine are: prolonged food shortages, cultural and economic ignorance, political decisions or indecisions, and natural disasters. Short-term biological (feeding) intervention and long-term behavioral intervention are 2 responses for alleviating famine. Ethical and economic postulates are raised in conjunction with the Green Revolution. Governmental and volunteer roles are examined in terms of providing responses both now and in the future (kbc).
