Kill Joy – World Book Day 2021
Reviews

a typical of holly jackson’s books: interview to all suspects, many multiple characters, and close relation crime cases. unfortunately, they didn't put many evidences like other books here.. this game has similar set like a movie called the menu on disney+ with different motives. everything will be seen as crystal clear and different if you already read the entire series so for me: it is okay if you want to take a shot with this book to start it all or simply want to know how pip chose her project since it's short and goofy (like always!)

I really enjoyed this novella and it made me want to do a murder game like this with my friends (whenever it's allowed again). I loved how intensive Pip was and how she wanted to be the one to solve the 'murder'. (view spoiler)[I'm actually kind of sad she was 'wrong' because I loved her solution way more than the actual solution of the game (hide spoiler)]. This actually made me want to reread the first two books, but I think I'll wait until the last one is out at least!

If you want some inside perspective on where pips obsession started, this is a must-read. Also a nice introduction on all of the characters by helping us get a feel for all of there personalities.

A prequel novella showing what inspired Pip's EPQ subject choice.
A nice, simple, easy, and quick read. It was great to see the interaction between Pip and her friends. I missed team Ravi and Pip, though!

Such a good prequel to the main series and major Knives Out vibes. I definitely think Pip was right!

It was so good to read about my favourite crush once again. Pippa is just too smart for her own good, I swear. I absolutely love her brain 😭
I love how the made sure to look into each clue and I also love how we find out what kick started her interest in Sal and Andies' case.
As for the plot, it was so well written, I was pretty hooked. Obviously it took me time to finish but that's because of everything that's going on.
But I thoroughly enjoyed this.

That assumption Pippa made was spectacular, haha.

I really liked this. The murder mystery case reminded me of the movie Knives Out but I loved that one so I obviously also loved this story.

Short but lots of fun. Pip is a really interesting character and I was excited to see how she realised she was passionate about solving mysteries. I also need to say that I SO WISH I had friends that would take part in murder dinner parties with me! The ending was great, I loved how (view spoiler)[Pip managed to solve the mystery by piecing together all the clues brilliantly. I was upset alongside her that the actual solution was instead so basic and simple, and I definitely prefer hers. (hide spoiler)] This made me really excited to read Good Girl, Bad Blood!

This is exactly what I was looking for when I picked this up. It was such a fun muder mystery!

A fun little read!

ok... A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is one of my FAV series, but this book was super unnecessary and I found it rather boring too because no actual crime happens - it's just a murder mystery game

This was so much fun, I've always wanted to do a murder mystery weekend and this definitely just made me want to even more. It was brilliant seeing Pip again and finding out where her project idea came from. I also love the little bonus bits we get hidden in there if you have already read the other books. Yet another brilliant story from Holly.

Highlights

‘How old is your character supposed to be?’ Pip asked.
‘Oh, ancient,’ Cara said. ‘Fifty-six.’
‘You look eighty-six.’
