I could not put this book down even though it had me in tears starting with Chapter 3.  Maelle, Mattie and Molly are orphaned at a young age.  They are ones of the millions of children send out west on the orphan trains where they are separated and sent to different homes.  Maelle keeps remembering the words of her father, “take care o’ the wee ones” as she searches for 17 years looking for her siblings.
