Dark Desires After Dusk Immortals After Dark #5
Reviews

This book has by far been my favorite in the series. The stories have gotten much better from the first book on.

demon fucker nation let's goooooooooooo! i had so many issues with this book while i was reading it, especially with how annoyingly prudish the heroine was behaving and with the very constant and iffy consent scenarios, but i can't lie and say that the last part of this book wasn't incredible. it truly catapulted what was surely to be a 2 star rating to a 4 stars. i ended up loving holly's transformation, and was glad that the author decided not to play the damsel in distress, but rather have her take charge of her own escape. and the whole exchange scene with her and the sword? the betrayal of it all?? chefs kiss for us angsty hoes. and the horn rubbing?? these books keep getting more and more monsterfuckery, we love to see it!

Despite the whole losing his brothers kingdom and tortured past thing he had going on , he came across a bit more fun easygoing at times than the previous heroes in the series. And he is a rogue!! It was practically a historical!! The rake hero with a bad past, a little bit naughty and foul mouthed, falling in love with the innocent virgin he thinks he does not deserve as he is a bad man, when in reality he is just misunderstood! I did struggle a little with the whole "vessel" thing and the hero lying to the heroine, but then the hero also struggled with it, so I will forgive him. The heroine I also liked and just how much she grew and learned about herself, realising who she was. Once again loved the appearances of Reign and Nix here. Another 5 stars.

Cadeon Woede knows his fated mate is a human, thus he can never have her. As a demon, the claiming would kill her. But he looks after Holly Ashwin, tiny, beautiful, and whip-smart from afar while also continuing to try and fix the big mistake he made centuries ago, the mistake which lost his brother Rydstrom his crown and kingdom. But, Holly the mathematician with OCD is way more than she seems. In fact, it turns out she may not be quite mortal after all and may be The Vessel, fated to give birth to a child of complete evil or complete good. But while it now seems Cadeon CAN claim Holly for his own, it also turns out she is the one thing that he can trade to get the information he needs to finally gain back his brother's crown. And Holly has no idea. A rollicking road trip paranormal that is just banana pants, I had so much fun being introduced to my first demon! There's a lot of debate about the sexiness of horns, but I think I'm kind of in to it. I imagined Cade as kind of a Tom Hardy with horns, so that works for me! I felt I had to take a few more "leaps of faith" with some of plot points here, but whatever. Also super looking forward Rydstrom and Sabine's book (it is next) because Rydstrom totally gets kidnapped in this one. Loving this Fated Mates podcast read-along!
