Summary Uilleam MacRieve, is over nine hundred years old, and he still doesn’t have a lifemate. His family suffered a great loss, due to a mistake he made as a teenage boy, and now there is only his twin and Macrieve left. His twin is all he has, but when he is captured, and tortured, his life changes. He doesn’t believe that he is redeemable and that there is no good left in him. But then he feels the call of his mate, and he knows he has to live for her. Chloe Todd, is driven, and is working toward playing in the Olympics. She plays on a professional team, and she has everything going for her. She has dedicated her whole life to soccer. But then her father comes to her, acts strangely, and leaves. She then finds herself kidnapped by witches, who want to auction her off to the highest bidder. She never imagined paranormal creatures existed, but her father is their enemy, and she is the key to destroying them. But then she is rescued by Macrieve, who is gentle and charming and tells her they are mates. She never thought she would be brought into a world of vampires, witches and shifters. But there is a key to her past that Choloe doesn’t know, and when all is revealed it could ruin any future she has with Macrieve. The Hero Uilleam MacRieve, once made a dreadful mistake. A mistake that cost him his family. As a teenager, he thought he had found his mate, but it was a succubus, who made him believe in a love that wasn’t there. He was only a boy when she seduced him, and then enthralled him. When his family found out the truth, he loses both parents and an unborn sister. Now all that is left is Monroe and himself. Macrieve blames himself, even hundreds of years later. Macrieve, is the tortured hero you just feel drawn to. He is like a magnet in the story, and from the very beginning, my heart broke for him. He hasn’t had it easy, but neither has his twin. Macrieve was such a good hero, even if he was a pain at times. But he had a certain complexity that was compelling, he isn’t a simple drawn hero. He has many depths, and it was an adventure seeing Macrieve grow into his character (despite how old he is), and boy did I want to share a bed with that man. He can turn on the heat like none other. His strength of will is powerful and after all he has suffered, he can still prove himself on each page. The Heroine Chloe Todd, was a truly magnifiscent heroine, but I am not surprised with Kresley Cole writing her character. I don’t think I have read a book of hers, where I didn’t like the heroine. Chloe is driven, passionate, and accepting. She is not one of those that goes into denial about her true identity or her change in circumstances, which sometimes happens in paranormal romances. When Chloe learns about paranormal creatures, she doesn’t put her mind in denial, she accepts things as she views them. She is determined to succeed in her dreams, and that is to play soccer. She has worked her whole life for it. She has a quality to her character that the reader is always cheering for. I loved her wit and playfulness and readiness for anything that came her way. Plot and Story Line Macrieve is the 13th installment in the series. I still can’t believe how much this series has grown and developed. I remember when the first books came out, and there was just vampires and such. Now it has expanded to so much more with each book. I do need to catch up on the series, but I felt like reading this, I wasn’t totally lost. Which is good since it is the later half of the series. What was impressive about this story was the emotions it conveys to the reader. I felt like I was all over the place, from laughing my head off, to tingling in certain parts of my body, at the edge of my seat in suspense and totally in tears. It definitely wrenched quite a bit out of me, and even though it’s not my favorite book of the series, I really had a jolly good time with it. I will say that the heroine impressed me way more than the hero. Now the hero has some major unresolved issues that causes a negative….way negative impact on his relationship with Chloe. I felt like he was such a jerk at times, especially when he learns the truth about her, a truth she had no knowledge of. But even though I felt like he could have treated her better, I also felt a mixed array of feeling over his character…because his character is about human nature. What drives us, what causes us pain and suffering and what can give us joy in life. You see the battle in himself and Cole is such a talented author in conveying that war and showing his true self even though there are parts that aren’t pretty. But they are true to who he is. The setting itself is pretty great, I mean we have this whole “in danger” aspect, and everyone is on edge. And you feel that tension in the story. One of the other aspects I loved was how unpredictable this story was. When I thought I had guessed what was going to happen next, I was blown away in the next chapter. This story definitely was full of some thrilling twists and turns that keeps you guessing. As I look at my reading experience of this story, I will say that the ending definitely is superb, as far as how things end for the couple, but it does leave a cliffhanger of sorts…which makes me hungry for more… Cover I actually adore this cover. The eyes are at the center and make the cover great. I love the intense stare, and that hair, it gives off the dangerous vibe of the story. Overall View Macrieve a another great thrilling addition to the series, a story of danger, intense romance, dramatic characterizations, stunning detail and a story to tie you up in knots. One HELL of an adventure!!

I cried reading this book. It was so emational for me and the groveling?! It feels sooooo good to read it. Honestly, Uilleam is the only Lykae I liked and he's absolutely the most asshole MC in the series but anyways the ending kinda feel rushed. I was hoping for more "asking forgiveness" like girl he literally ruined you mentally and emotionally especially when he said about the gang rape part, that was a huge blow and below the belt istg. You forgot to ask him to be on his knees for you while he seeks you, ya know. More angst, more fun!

Check out this and my other reviews at My Blog, Facebook, Google+, Twitter and Pinterest ★Book Basics★ Genre : - Paranormal Romance Series : - 14th in the series. Love triangle? - (view spoiler)[No (hide spoiler)] Cheating? - (view spoiler)[No (hide spoiler)] HEA? - (view spoiler)[Yes (hide spoiler)] Would I read more by this author/or in this series? - Yes Rating - 3 stars ★Review★ I loved this to begin with......MacRieve and his tortured past. Really liked Chloe, all in ready for a great read. Loved how MacRieve was when they first met, but then he just changed, and it was not enjoyable reading. Chloe should have kicked him in the balls and left him to it tbh. I know he had a tragic past etc, but the man was as dumb as a box of rocks for most of the book tbh, he frustrated me greatly. Not my favourite at all.

So many content warnings for this book (and I wouldn't recommend reading unless you've read the others in this series). Also this review is entirely spoiler-y so stop here if you don't want to know. * * * * * * * * Still with me? Okay! Oh, my poor Uilleam MacRieve. "Will" is a Lykae who was repeatedly raped and sexually abused by a Succubus starting before he was 1o years old. When his parents and brother found out, about five years later, both of his parents are killed by another enthralled lover of the Succubus when they go to end her life. 900 or so years later, Will and his brother Munro are living in Novia Scotia, helping to raise orphaned Lykae. They've fought bravely in the wars between the varying factions of the lore and Will may just finally be coming to terms with his past. Just. And then he's kidnapped by The Order and tortured, vivisected, and when he finally escapes he's hunted by a pack of Succubi. So when word gets out that the daughter of the man resonsible for his capture and torture, and the torture of so many others, is up for auction, Will believes he can finally get revenge and find Webb. But Chloe is actually his fated mate. Oh boy. Chloe has been afraid she's been changing, and now her father is missing. And oh, it seems her father is leading an entire other life, a life that has now caused her to become bait in the Lore's revenge schemes. Thankfully a wickedly beautiful and haunted man, a Lykae, has taken her away. He claims she's his, and Chloe is starting to get into it, when she turns. Into a Succubus. During sex with Macrieve. What follows is a battle for Macrieve's instinct and soul to come to terms with the fact his mate may be the same type of immortal as the woman he harmed him, but that doesn't make her the same person at all. I really liked this story, but felt so terrible for Chloe. She's into Macrieve and her hurts her very badly. But I cannot be angry at Macrieve, because he is also so hurt. I think that is what kept me from adoring it as I didn't know who needed to grovel more, if anyone really should be groveling? ALSO that ending!!! Macrieve and Chloe get their HEA, but Munro finally finds his fated mate after they are both captured by the Order, a mate who he has desperately wanted for ages. And she's human. Well, until he's forced to turn her for The Order. Against her wishes. She tells him she hates him and will for eternity. And that's the end. AHHHHH. I can't imagine how I'd feel if I didn't know Munro's book is coming this year.
