Wtf did I just read

LOVED it

while i grew a bit bored of the same jungle setting for the majority of this book and at times the story became repetitive with the character's constant push and pull, i fell in love with them. i loved both mariketa and bowen macrieve ♥ they became one of my fave couples of IAD so far and the ending was so sweet and heart-warming ugh i'm obsessed with this series! there's nothing better than a good enemies-to-lovers between enemy species

I don't think I'll ever read a Kresley Cole book I don't enjoy. I love a good romance that's well written, and those are so hard to come by anymore. After Fifty Shades, most romance authors seem to think their smut doesn't have to be well-written to sell well, and the sad truth is, it doesn't. Kresley Cole's writing is refreshing, and the best thing is, I don't have to reconstruct sentences or add in missing words while reading in order for the book to make sense!

Bowen despises witches and not only that, is in mourning anew for his lost mate. Yet had an undeniable attraction to Mari, a witch so he thinks had bewitched him. Things do not get off to the best start, at all, but circumstances force them together and they have to decide if they want to give a relationship a go. Bowen makes some pretty big mistakes, hurting Mari, but I am glad he had made his decisions and was all for Mari, before a big twist. Bowen is so full of guilt over what he believes is his fault for the death of his mate. I am not generally a fan of a book where the hero has a dead love, but I loved where and how the author took the story.

Last we met Bowen MacRieve, the Lykae was having his butt kicked by Kaderin the Cold-Hearted and losing his chance to reunite with his long dead mate. We meet back up with Bowen in the midst of this story and as he is tempted by Mariketa the Awaited, a witch he wants to hate but lusts after with a desire strong enough to finally make him unfaithful to the memory of Mariah. For Mariketa, the brooding Lykae is hot as sin, but she knows she must protect herself from him, as she is prophesied to be the ultimate witch and has much she needs to learn. Only 23 and not yet ascended to her immortality, she competes for the same prize as Bowen, but finds herself trapped by him in a terrible cave. After the events of the last book unfold, Bowen returns to free Mariketa from her imprisonment and so she can end what he thinks are enchantments on him, one to stop him from being able to regenerate, the other must be a love spell. But as Bowen and Mariketa struggle to get out of the jungle, it seems she may be the reincarnation of his long dead mate. Or is she? For one who has been spurned before, by her parents and her first love, Mariketa doesn't trust that she will ever be Bowen's first choice. Watching these two find their HEA was so much fun, if a bit bananas. Still lots of limbs being ripped off, lots of lusty sexy times, and overall a super fantastic romp. I found the ending to be a bit rushed, after all the build up, but I'm now firmly entrenched in this series.
