At first I rode the fence with this book, unsure if it would survive round two of the "purge" from my personal collection. Then I set it aside for nearly two weeks while on vacation overseas.

I picked it back up today and could not remember distinctly the detractors I had identified before. I did note that the portions of the novel, short and creepy, from a character revealed later in the book served no purpose in the narrative. I believe that Heitzmann could have heightened the tension without including those portions which added to the cliché.

By the end of the book, I simply could not put the book down. I knew exactly how the book ended having read it before. I also would not consider this a work of phenomenal fiction. That being said, I enjoyed reading this book which for me means that this book most definitely survived round two of the "purge."
