I loved this book! Bennett and Aspen were amazing and I loved all the angst and humor in their relationship. They both know each other since they were babies and their families have lived together for years. They’ve always loved each other but never acted on their feelings out of fear for their parents’ reactions. 

Aspen is 23 and ready to start working away from her home. She wants to be with Bennett but it’s hard with the rules he created since they were children. I really loved how she taunted Bennett into giving in even if it was hard for them to just break the rules.

Bennett is 21 and he’s always been Aspen’s best friend. Now that she’s moving he doesn’t know what to do to be with her but it’s hard to him to just let her go. His dad had been through a lot and Aspen’s family has been a constant in their life so Bennett doesn’t want anything to break their families apart so he created those rules to be with Aspen but only as friends. 

All of that changes when Bennett realize Aspen will be gone after the summer and then they’ll both need to survive without each other. So for the summer they break all the rules while going to their lake house with both their brothers. There they give in to their passion and all the things they fought back through the years. 

The book is very angsty and full of drama, romance and steam. Bennett and Aspen’s chemistry has always been there and I loved how after all that time they could finally be together, even if it was for a few weeks according to them. The story really hooked me up from the beginning, I loved reading about both of their families and the banter between Aspen and Bennett’s fathers. 

Next we’ll have Drew and Fenn stories and I’m really excited to read about them.

“Rebellious,” by Kristy Marie is a childhood friends to lovers romance. It is a standalone, and can be read in that way - but it is in the same world as the “Commander in Briefs Series,” with it being the daughter of Theo and Anniston (Commander) and the son of Cade and Brecklyn (Gorgeous). I enjoyed it even more knowing their family history, and the series of events that brought us to this story. The sacrifices that both Aspen and Bennett made for each other and themselves alone was heart wrenching. It pulled on my heart strings, and had me crying at the beautiful love they shared. There were always rules. Bennett and Aspen stepped back and gave themselves the summer.. but with that came blurred lines, complications - and a love so overpowering that neither one of them were willing to let go of it. Phenomenal book. I loved this so much.
