This series is so good 

My only negative was the cheating and whenever he apologized he was like “but after I cheated you left me” basically her leaving him after he cheated is equal to him cheating. That REALLY pissed me off. Made me go from loving him to just wanting the book to be over.

Needed more groveling and a real apology.

This one was sorta cute I guess. I like the fake dating trope so it had that going for it. It wasn't really anything special, and things were pretty predictable once they got going. I was kind of confused on the characterization of Anne and how she interacted with the love interests. She also was pretty dismissive of her female friendships which was a bummer. Overall it was fine to kill an afternoon, but not worth a reread.

I'm surprise with this book. Well I'm Kinda surprise with myself too, I was never a big fans of Rock Romance like this or whatever you called it but I kinda like this one. Also this is my first time reading Kylie Scott work it's nice. A breath of fresh air kinda nice.

I'm sure all of you have read this already but if you haven't you need to try this. I am cry at their broke up part but other than that it was all lovey dovey. I really enjoy it.

tbh this pinged me just bc of the fake dating trope. i'm sorry i'm that person. but it was super fun! the leads were both cute and i liked their story. i don't think i'd read it again though, and i think by the end i was just like okay next lol

a little less engaging than the first, mostly just because the main girl didn't quite ... translate to me. she seemed a bit too flat. but it was still a light read. hashtag no regrets, but it was kinda meh.

Though there were a couple things that really bothered me about this book, it was a fast read and it (thankfully) had a whole lot more plot and conversation than sex. Pretty darn romantic in a bit of a subversive way. Will probably be reading the next one in the series.

Mal was so much more than he promised in Lick!

Mal and Anne meet at a party, Mal decided he liked Anne, and that he needs Anne (for reasons of his own) and Anne needs him. So he moves in and convinced Anne to be a pretend Girlfriend. 


  "You moved in with me somehow".......

"I know what you're gonna say, it's sooner than I thought too. But Davie threw me out today so I figured, why wait?"

I just blinked, the rest of me being too frozen to respond.

"Okay. Long story short, I accidentally saw Ev naked" He held up both hands protesting his innocence. "It was only side boob, I swear...But you know what he's like with her....Not my fault she was topless. Anyway, Davie went ballistic.....Harsh words were said. We may have even wrestled slightly. But I forgive him. Love makes you psycho, right?"

"So you moved in with me?"

......

"Anne, come on. We talked about this last night. If you were gonna have a problem with me moving in, that was the time to bring it up, not now."


And that sets the tone for the book! Mal is a beautifully written character! His humour, his playful nature, his childlike vulnerability that comes through sometimes, his manic energy - all hiding something, a pain you occasionally get glimpses of!

And Anne was a great character too. She saw down to the real Mal, behind the famous drummer.

Together they were perfection, the chemistry, the banter between them was great.

And seeing more of the rest of the band, and how close they all are and support each other was beautiful!

It was a funny, sexy, at times a little sad, but hugely enjoyable read, that somehow manages to pass the brilliance of book one!

24/4/16 - re read as the problem with reading a new book by Kylie Scott I then feel the need to re read other books by Kylie Scott! Fortunately for me, these are the problems I have!

Woot, the book that got me out of a book funk!


  "They're love songs, baby. Love isn't always smooth or straightforward. It can be messy and painful," he said. "Doesn't mean it isn't still the most incredible thing that can ever happen to you. Doesn't mean I'm not crazy about you"


So what happens after you wake up, after a booze fuelled night and find out you married a Rock Star? And you do not remember a thing!

I loved David Ferris! I loved that he remembered everything and had wanted the marriage!

Do you have to sort of slightly have to suspend your disbelief? Well, yes - but, it is pure fantasy! I may be married with 2 kids, but seriously, who does not sometimes fantasize about the almost Cinderella like scenario - a handsome mover star/rock star etc sweeping you off your feet!


With a great cast of secondary characters - the band, family etc - it made for a fun, hot sexy read. 

They had some issues to deal with and talk about. There was misunderstanding - but up until that point, and then afterwards, they talked through and communicated what they wanted/expected etc. Even the misunderstanding (which lets face it is such a predictable over used plot scenario) felt done in such a way as to truly move the couple forward to a better place. 

An excellent 4 stars for me. And I bought the second in the series as soon as I had finished this one!

Siiiiiiiiiigh. 

This book was soooooo angsty. But, in a really good way. I couldn't wait for more about what happened in Vegas to be revealed as Ev and David's story was told. David was oh-so-very swoon worthy. HOT. The strength of his feelings as the book went on took my breath away at times. It was beautiful. I absolutely enjoyed this and can't wait for the next book... I don't even care which characters it follows. They were all so well-written and relatable that I kind of loved them all.

I don't read a lot of rock star romances, because sometimes they just feel cliche, but every now and then I give one a try and realize just how much I like them. After discovering Kylie Scott's Lick last year and loving nearly everything about it, it was a given I would read her follow-up, Play. I just love her characters. I was thrilled to get a chance at reading an early review copy of Play. It was a great, quick and enjoyable read from cover to cover. 

There were so many elements to this book that I just flat out loved, but the characters top the list. Anne was a fantastic heroine. She was so believable and real. I love when books put regular people up against famous ones and it was even better in this since she's had a crush on Mal since she was a teenager. It was so much fun to watch them meet, interact and bond. Their banter was fantastic. Mal was an intense character, but with that intensity came an unexpected humor that I really enjoyed. Mal was a bit of a mess, but he was a lovable one for sure. It took me awhile to figure him out, but once I did, I was hooked on him too. 
As Anne and Mal formed their agreement for their fake relationship, I just knew more would come of it than that. These characters had too much chemistry to stay just friends. Play was definitely sexy, but it was also sweet and funny. I haven't read a book with this many laugh out loud moments since Alice Clayton's Wallbanger. If you're looking for a different kind of rock star romance, I would suggest picking up this series. Lick and Play had very different vibes, but both were enjoyable in their own way. I definitely look forward to reading more of this series.

Oh. My. GOOOOSH!!! MAL!!!!!

Oh my good lord, I honestly cannot believe how much I freaking love Mal Ericson. This drummer from Stage Dive is absolute perfection–it’s always the funny ones that get to me. And Mal is in a whole league of his own. He is such a unique character–you would expect a rockstar to be all broody and angsty, like the other three boys in the band are, but Mal is definitely not! And I adored him for it! He says the most ridiculous things and they had me laughing my butt off, with tears coming out of my eyes. God I love this man.

“I like you,” he said simply.
“You barely know me.”
“You’re a friend of Ev’s and Lauren’s. We talked. I tackled you. We rolled around on the floor together. It was a real bonding experience.”
I blinked.

So Mal is the perfect hero, but did I mention how freaking awesome the heroine is too? Anne is the most perfect match for Mal–she can handle all of his shit and more. But how do they get together in the first place? Well, Anne is in need of a roommate to help pay the rent, and Mal is in need of a pretend girlfriend… so everything works out, right?

“You’re moving in with me?” …
“Yes, pumpkin,” said Mal, his face deadly serious. “I am moving in with you.”
I cringed at the horrid nickname but chose to focus on the real concern for now. “When did we talk about this exactly?”
“Actually, you might have left by then. But it doesn’t change the facts.”

So basically Mal takes Anne by surprise by storming into her life–and her life is honestly never the same after.

I love how resigned Anne is to Mal taking over her life–she pretty much reacts to everything he does with a “What the hell?” She’s had a crush on the famous drummer since forever, but it doesn’t change the fact that Mal is honestly the weirdest guy ever. He’s cracking jokes 24/7, but Anne is able to handle all of him and dish out some of her own. I couldn’t imagine a more suitable person to go up against Mal’s wild personality. But still, there are times when Mal leaves Anne speechless.

“You taste so fucking good.”
“Like what?” I asked breathlessly, thigh muscles tightening. The man was lucky I didn’t just attack him with my vagina. “What do I taste like?”
“Well, like honey and cream and… I dunno, bread?”
I scrunched up my nose. “Bread?”
“Yes. Sexy bread that I could eat all the time because you are so delicious and full of wholegrain goodness.”

Or my absolute FAVORITE part that had me in stitches:

“Hello, Anne’s clitoris. It’s me, Malcolm, your lord and master.”
“Oh, god, no.” I covered my face with my hands. “Please don’t.”

Jesus, I sometimes don’t even know what to make of Mal myself. But I still love him.

And then there are tender moments between Anne and Mal that had me falling in love with their story even more.

“Don’t have sad eyes, Anne. I can’t fucking stand it when you’re sad.”
“You make it better.”

I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect story for Mal and Anne. It’s the ‘pretending to be boyfriend/girlfriend’ trope, but Kylie Scott gives it such a unique twist. I couldn’t put the book down once I started reading. It’s a crazy, wild ride from start to finish, all because of the force that is Mal Ericson.

But… I almost could give this book 5 hearts, except the last 20% or so of the book threw me off a bit. Everything seemed rushed here and not well fleshed out enough. I wish there was just more here. Nonetheless, everything else about the book was so much fun to read! Play is another fantastic installment in the Stage Dive series, which is quickly becoming one of my top favorite rocker series!

OMG!! I seriously LOVE rockstar romances, and I am so freaking happy that the Stage Dive series exists. *Sigh* It was pretty much rockstar perfection for me. And these rockstars from Stage Dive are the. best. They’re famous, sexy, tattooed, drool-worthy, and obviously, they make music!! What’s not to love?

I really can’t believe it took me so long to get to reading Lick. I’m so ashamed of myself! I was seriously missing out – but no matter. I’m just glad I did read it! I mean, have you read that blurb? I had high expectations because of it, and Kylie Scott meets every one of those expectations and more. This book is wild and intense, but also sweet and sexy. It has the perfect balance of the hard, fast rocker world, and the slow, sweet beauty of Evelyn and David’s romance.

So a little about the book. Our dear heroine, Evelyn, wakes up hungover, remembering nothing of her celebrating her 21st birthday party – but she’s not alone in bed. Because next to her is a very sexy, tattooed man she doesn’t recognize, who apparently knows who she is. Ev is understandably confused (though I would totally be up for waking up next to a hot man), but the real kicker is the giant wedding ring on her finger.

He physically recoiled from me. “Let me get this straight, you don’t remember anything?”
“No,” I said, swallowing hard. “What did we do last night?”
“We got fucking married,” he growled.
This time, I didn’t make it to the toilet.

And so ensues the wild ride that is Lick. And I adored every single moment of it!

David Ferris is the first of the Stage Dive boys to get his story told. Oh, David stole my heart in Lick. He’s all of those amazing things that make up a rockstar, and more. He’s sweet, intense, and so beautifully passionate. He’s very much an alpha-male (although it was a bit too much at times), but he’s also not afraid to show his sweet side to Evelyn. He makes my heart flutter so much! He especially makes me swoon when he tries to win Ev’s heart.

“You are?” I asked, my voice still tight with emotion.
“Of course I am.”

But it’s not exactly easy for David to win over his wife’s heart. Evelyn is thrust into the rocker world, but she wants nothing to do with it. The rocker world is so completely out of her comfort zone, but David, the sweetheart that he is, does his best to show that Ev belongs there, with him. I adored David and Evelyn as a couple. I loved seeing them try to make it work between them, trying to prove that getting married wasn’t a mistake. They do hurt each other along the way, but honestly, I thought the two of them were just perfect together.

“But I married you, Evelyn, because you made sense to me. We make sense. We’re a whole lot better together than apart. You notice that?”
“Yeah, I really did.”
“Good.”

I would have given Lick 5 perfect hearts, but Evelyn and David annoyed me a few times. Evelyn could get incredibly stubborn, and it took me a while to warm up to her as the heroine, and David was sometimes overly jealous and alpha-maley. It wasn’t too much of a problem for me, because I ended up loving them and the book anyway. What I also loved was the perfect amount of drama and angst. Kylie Scott was able to make me feel so much for the characters – I was rooting for them and hurting for them, and I was totally giggling and smiling whenever David was being sweet.

Lick took me on a wild ride – I couldn’t put the book down from start to finish. I got hooked on the characters – all of them, even the other Stage Dive boys. I loved seeing how the Stage Dive boys interacted together – they were such goofballs, and I absolutely cannot wait to read all of their stories. Lick was a fabulous intro to the Stage Dive series – I highly recommend it!
