The Sorceress and Wizard of Oz attempt to save Princess Ozma and Dorothy from the dangers which threaten them when they try to bring peace to two warring tribes.

in which are related the exciting experiences of Princess Ozma of Oz, and Dorothy, in their hazardous journey to the home of the Flatheads, and to the Magic Isle of the Skeezers, and how they were rescued from dire peril by the sorcery of Glinda the Good

While the book showcased Baum's evolving writing style, with Dorothy depicted as a more childlike character this time, it had a few flaws. The plot was overly complicated for an Oz book, bouncing around too much, though some side events could have made interesting stories on their own. One odd detail was Dorothy's kitten changing colors throughout the book. The most disturbing part was the graphic description of using preserved brains to give someone intelligence. Overall, the acclaimed Oz series left much to be desired, and it's unlikely I will ever revisit these books.
