I'm so in love with this series. A well written book with amazing plot. Love interaction between two main characters. Looking forward to the next book.

DNF at page 191. I think I’ve run out of steam for this series. I almost DNFed the second book a couple of times, but I just couldn’t battle through this one. There’s just too much going on for me to concentrate on, and I don’t really understand what’s happening or where it’s going. But my biggest thing is I just don’t care about what’s happening. I do like the addition of Ambrose in this book, but he’s not enough for me to keep reading. This is an interesting series, but it’s too much for me.

Il terzo l’ho trovato decisamente meno interessante. Questo quarto volume però è un insulto. Come avrebbe detto Orazio: desinit in piscem.

** spoiler alert ** da fuk 😀 i'm gonna pretend i understand what is going on in this book because i don't know if i'm stupid or what but every time i thought "ooh okay okay i get it!!" it was quickly followed by an "explanation" from Ophelie and i would immediately go "wait what?" 😀😀 i feel like the second half of the book is so rushed, there should have been a fifth book. reading the last couple hundred pages i kept thinking there was no way the author could wrap it up in this book. and I am CONFUSION. like. what.the.hell. also, damn there should have been more moments with Thorn, he totally saved the book for me and the ending.... i guess it's fine because it's "open" but it's quite frustrating. in the end i really enjoyed it but nothing like i loved books 1, 2 and 3. i wanted to see more from this universe and i was so convinced we would go to Arc-en-Terre in this one i kept waiting for them to join Archibald and all there. but nope. Well. It was a crazy ride and i'm already eager to re read books 1 and 2 but not the last 2 😅 also i wish we had seen more of the other archs (Arc-en-terre bordel de fion 😤) maybe miss Dabos will come up with more books?

Definitely, my least favorite of the entire series and that's the last one ... I had such high hopes for this series I really enjoyed the first two books but this that was painful. This book was just following the same plot as the last one which I had also enjoyed less we stay in Babel and Ophélie and Thorn are again separated though not far from each other and Ophélie has to go through humiliation again and again... The rest of the book was just dumping info that doesn't really make sense in order to get to a revelation at the end that was actually quite simple and dull. I hated that ending with my entire being why develop characters if you just let them hanging at the end!

This book was really interesting, the setting and the worldbuilding was very different from the typical YA Fantasy. The Magic System is also quite compelling it is separated by clans/families sometimes separated by different sort of islands that each have a type of powers. Some people seem to don't like very much the main character Ophelia but I disagree with them maybe because I felt close to her vision of things but I really enjoyed her. Her ability to read objects is really fascinating as a person who works for museums and historical sites I really cared about that. I will definitely continue this series thanks to my local library!

I'm still very enjoying this series the worldbuilding is marvelous and the characters really compelling but I felt something missing in this one and I was very disturbed by the omnipresence of bullying. The plot is moving forward hence I really want to read the last installment soon!
