Was in the mood for poetry, found some poem of this book on the internet, ended up reading the book and it did not dissapoint. 

To me, poetry doesn't need to be complicated--with heavy metaphors and the like, after all poems are all subjective to the readers' interpetation. Laura Gilpin poems are exactly like that--they're honest, simple, yet there is something on them that make you pause, and think. 

Really love "Is Here." Probably a poem that I'll be thinking for a long time.

The Dog in the Rain poem has been on my mind for days and days. I connected / liked most poems but not all.

wonderful little book of poems. if you've read The Two-Headed Calf, or A Toast to the Alchemists, then you'll enjoy Giplin's other work. if you haven't, then you get to read them for the very first time, how exciting! the concept of a scientific approach to an artistic existence, which is explored in most of these poems, is something that really resonated with me.
