Famine Les quatre cavaliers, T3
Reviews

Probably the most ruthless in the series so far, Famine is an entertaining jerk. Thankfully, Ana is pretty scrappy and has dealt with plenty of men with attitude problems.

This might be my favorite one so far! I just loved Ana so much and her humor? Definitely my spirit animal.. Also Famine was just one of my favorites and I loved seeing their backstories and how they understood each other, definitely loved that we had a much more emotional connection than in War. Also him calling her my little flower? And that ending? I need to read Death immediately and I need the horsemen reunion with all the girls please

I am speechless! This series is killing me. This book and this horseman! He's a different kind of torture! This book blew my mind and that ending! Holy shit, that ending literally left me with goosebumps. This book is full of action and death. (view spoiler)[And just when you thought that Ana got under Famine's skin and he's done with his task, Death comes and f*cks everything up! DEATH! (hide spoiler)] I simply loved how Famine is written and how Laura made Ana's and Famine's stories and meetings. I know this is going to sound messed up, but I loved their first meeting. How she cared for him and took care of him the best way she can and never once left his side. I was shocked that on their third meeting, she had to put a knife to his throat so he could remember her. I mean... I expected him to remember her even if he did condemn her to his soldiers. But then I understood his argument. Until this moment, I think Famine is the... well... worst of the horsemen in terms of killing and spreading death. I mean, I thought War knew torture, but Famine?! Well, Famine knows EXACTLY what torture means! He both inflicts it and knows damn well how it feels like. Out of the three horsemen, Famine is the one that knows a great deal of the worst parts of human nature. Yes, War knows men's hearts, but Famine is the one who actually felt it on his own skin, the wrath of men. And he has every right to repay humankind with the same wrath. Although, he still gives a quicker death. Ana is so different from any female character that I usually see in books. And I loved her. She's a survivor to the core and she's perfect for Famine. She, herself knows human nature, and she doesn't judge Famine for wanting his vengeance. Yes, she doesn't agree with his methods, but she understands him. Which is very different from the previous two books. Their relationship is different from War-Miriam's relationship and Pestilence-Sara's relationship. Although Ana knows suffering and pain, she still manages to see the good in people, and this is a complete enigma to Famine, but the way they get together through every pain and they get to understand their feelings for each other, puts Famine's story to another level. Until this point, I think Famine will be my favorite horseman. Although War is on top of it, then again, what is war without passion :)) Famine deserves all the 5 stars in the world. I didn't expect to love this book so much. And that ending, again! I DIDN'T EXPECT THAT AT ALL! I did expect something bad to happen, but not THAT!

This review was originally posted on Addicted To Romance Famine is the third book in the "Four Horseman" series and I have to say that this author never ceases to amaze me in her powerful and provoking storytelling. I will admit that I have had this book on my kindle for quite some time and I am not sure what kept me from picking up this book right away. I think it was that it had a revenge plot and those type of plots I really NEED to be in the right mood for so I think I was honestly just waiting to be in the right frame of mind so that I could enjoy this as fully as I wanted to and man it was worth the wait on that because this BOOK was epic. And just like the previous two books Pestilence and War....I FELL hard for this one. I don't know what it is about these anti heroes that this author writes, but she just gravitates the reader to her style of writing in a way where you can't help but have that hate/love relationship and love the journey of it all. So Famine is a story of the third horseman coming down and destroying everything in his path. At first Famine, was just doing his duty and had little care one way or another. But then the evils of humankind showed its true colors, and after he was tortured in the worst of ways, but then was rescued by a female he was drawn to his "little flower". But when he destroyed her home and family, she left him and ended up being a prostitute to survive in a world that is falling apart around her. When her madame encourages her to offer herself to save them, she goes to Famine, hoping he would recognize her and spare them. But the worst happens, he doesn't recognize her at all, and her dear friend is killed, and Ana herself is left for dead and miraculously she survives and now she is out for revenge. Both Famine and Ana are on the path to revenge but find their way towards redemption. Pushing away from the bathroom counter, the Reaper moves to the doorway. “Tomorrow we’re heading out. If you try to escape, I won’t feed you.” He looks disturbingly delighted by that possibility. Fucking Famine. Famine is a story that I don't think any reader can fully prepare themselves for, its a story that takes a hero that is full on anti hero, in fact, probably the most difficult of the horsemen so far to find redeemable. Unlike the previous two heroes, who had some liking for humankind....Famine is far from different. He has been around before humankind even existed, and has seen all their evils over the centuries. He has no issue playing around with humans for his enjoyment and killing them with little thought. But it is one small human woman that shifts his plan from revenge to something deeper. Its the change that we see within Famine that is wondrous to behold. Throughout the first half of the story, you don't want to like him and will even have a hate relationship with him. But then as he slowly changes, your view of him changes along the way and despite knowing what he has done, you can't help but cheer for him and his redeeming journey. You really should’ve stayed away. You may still be that same little flower who saved me, but then, I’m not known for letting flowers grow The heroine was one I wasn't sure about at first. But I grew to love her tenacity, stubborness and heart of gold she endeavors that no one see. She has had a tough life, and knows hardship and pain. But I liked that she isn't too bitter about it, and despite life changing in ways she never imagined, she still endeavors to have goodness. I did love seeing her creativity and her boldness in taking charge of her life. Her revenge plot against the hero was a delight to see for sure because you see how their revenge is so alike to each other and there is a depth of understanding that builds between them. The growth of these characters is what shows the true talent of this author. But seriously this ENDING....WHY???!!! LOL I need DEATH in my hands like right now. HAHA Now it had a more HFN ending, now the HEA feel but I have a feeling we will get that in the final book of the series. Definitely eager to try more of these authors books for sure. God, but this man feels like home, and that’s more than a little wondrous to a woman like me, who’s never really had a home. Overall I found Famine to be an intriguing story that won my heart fiercely in ways I never imagined, and what a wild ride of intense suspense, deep character growth and a dystopian fantastical world to captivate your attention and have you falling in love despite your resistance to it....STUNNINGLY DEEP!

I don’t think I breathed after the 90% until I finished. I don’t remember inhaling or exhaling. That last 10% was brutal! I need to have Death’s book now! Like, holy shit, you guys! First, I love War. War has my heart, but ... ahhh! Famine! I seriously fell for this horseman so hard! I think it was just how he kept tending to Ana even from very early on, always paying attention to her. Can we talk about how fierce and unfiltered Ana is? She’s my second woman crush (Roxy from Den of Vipers being my first)! I loved how inappropriate she was at the most uncomfortable times. Out of all the females in this series, she’s probably the most human and most compassionate. One thing I hadn’t noticed until it was mentioned was how she never tried to change Famine, in comparison to the other two females with their horsemen. Sure, she didn’t agree with why was happening, but she never forced Famine’s hand to stop his ways. And that just speaks so much about her character. I’m now EAGERLY ANTICIPATING Death’s book!!! I DESPERATELY NEED IT!!!

So excited for famines story and it didn't disappoint. Loved their travels and the world Laura continues to drag you into.

This one is like a whole ass football field above her otger work 12/10 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

so a prostitute and an apocalyptic starvation expert meet on the street…. as crazy as that plot sounds it’s exactly what this book is and I LOVED IT. this is the best one so far and the ending had me pumping my fist through the air ready to read the next one. such a fun series!

4.5 stars. I need some fucking time to process this. There are some spoilers ahead! OH MY. DEATH. WAS. HERE. And Ana stabbed him. Yas queen. Why 4.5 stars? I gotta be honest with you, guys. Famine is actually the worst of all, actually, he is way worst than Pestilence and War... And then, he falls for Ana. The slow burn is pretty good tho. I cried a couple times and I don't know why, tbh. But I loved it. The smut was amazing! I loved it! You broke me. And in the process I broke you. And now I fear the only way we will ever be whole again is together, all your jagged edges nestled against mine. I hate that I want that. But I do. I want to be whole with you. This just killed me. I've been waiting for ages to meet Thanatos and now he's here. I need the 4th book inmediately. I can't wait no more.

I love these assholes so much. 😂

Of all three books in this series thus far, Famine is the one that has remained at the forefront of my brain since I read it last year. It truly speaks to Laura Thalassa's talent that she can take someone as terrible as Famine and turn him into someone extremely lovable by the end of the book. TALENT. Famine is known for cruelty, coldness, and a seemingly uncaring demeanor. But underneath all of that is a man who just wants to be accepted, and has had horrific and brutal experiences with humankind to harden his exterior. Ana and Famine met years before when she helped him escape torture, and when they cross paths again he seems to have forgotten that kindness. Slowly but surely, Ana softens Famine's hard edges (but not other hard things hey-o) and he starts to believe in hope for the future once again. The vibe is very enemies to lovers, with a dash of forced proximity thrown in (and of course a morally grey love interest) and in my opinion, the complete effect is immaculate. Can't recommend this book and this series enough.

*Received ARC in exchange for an honest review* Rating: 5 Stars! https://bookboyfriendsdoitbetter.com/ Ok ok ok ok, what the heck. I love Famine. I ADORE him. I can't believe he just dethroned pestilence. Pestilence has been one of my favorites since 2018 but Famine just shoved him out of the way. I wasn't the biggest fan of War so I was a little nervous about this one, but I had *nothing* to worry about at all. I went in completely blind for this one. I had avoided the excerpts, the teasers, everything. I didn't have any theories because I actively avoided everything and anything to do with this book so IMAGINE my surprise, not even 10% in and I KNOW that this book is going to be amazing! I love how Laura Thalassa changed it up the plot a bit and DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON ANA AND FAMINE...well ok I *guess* I kinda have to get started on them lol. Ana was an amazing character from the beginning and she is my favorite part about this book. Don't get me wrong, Famine is a snack and a half, but Ana is just magical. I love how she never once asked Famine to stop and instead tried stop to him herself. She never asked him to change, never asked him to give up his purpose. She is -in my opinion- the strongest heroine of all 3 books so far! She is honestly so close to removing Serenity (The Fallen World series) from the #1 spot. Serenity has been my favorite Thalassa heroine since I first read the series in 2016 so I was honestly shocked when Ana almost dethroned her--but don't tell Serenity that. And Famine, oh sweet sweet yummy absolutely delicious Famine. Man, do I *adore* this horseman. He is absolutely 100% *chef's kiss* It wasn't even 15% when I knew that he was going to be my new favorite. I don't even know what to say about him that won't be spoilers. All I can say right now is that this dude really knows his way around words. This review is a whole mess and a half, but I think that's what gives it charm lol. Or at least, really does show that I love this book.

THAT last line. *screeching*

This is probably my favorite book of this series. While in the first one I didn’t like how the main character’s relationship, because it didn’t seem natural (as much as it could), and the second one because I actually found War a bit annoying. In this one, I really liked the relationship, their arguments, their everything. I didn’t think I would like Famine, but I did, and I finished it in a day. I can only confirm I love Thalassa’s style; she is able to write in a way that keeps me glued to the book and it’s always something to read one of her books. My only complaint is that I didn’t feel the Brazilian culture, it seemed I was reading a book set in any other country. Final vote: 4,25/5 ARC provided by the author in exchange of an honest review.

The only third act that I liked was Pestilence's but the last line has me reeling.

So much better than War, and just as good as Pestilence if not better. The characters were amazingly complex. The writing and atmosphere were once again mind blowing. The romance was incredible, funny, and beautifully sweet. The ending was unpredictable and different than the last two books. Laura thalassa is not afraid of putting her characters through the ringer. I absolutely blew threw this 57 chapter book in 2 days. I loved it. I cannot wait for the conclusion!

5 stars 🌟 AH! I was skeptical that this one wasn’t gonna live up to the previous 2 but I was so wrong, I think Famine might be my current fav. And I LOVED Ana. She was hilarious. But ok now I need Thanatos immediately 😫

I know. I know. We have all been waiting for Famine. And I have to say it, it doesn’t disappoint at all. I fucking love every pages. I cannot stop at all. Thankfully enough I was off that day. Famine is the third brother of the four horsemen. And he is different. Like I knew that I had to expect it but it still surprised me. He is so raw but hides his emotions very deeply. And it only comes out when he is verbally sparring with the devious yet honest women, Ana de Silva. She got spunky. And I’m for it. Like she knows to place someone in their place. No problem at all. But she still has a sense of morals in forgiving people. It may be hard for her but she is always willing to find the good no matter what. And it definitely amazes Famine, he definitely doesn’t understand because people are never what they seem except for Ana de Silva. She is his soft spot. They definitely have history between each other. But it does not stop them from falling in love with each other. It’s more of a slow burning romance between them. It gives them time to process but it also kills us cause we want them together already. Don’t worry, they do in their own time. Expect a surprise in the end. It’s definitely a tease!

I don’t think anyone knows what to do. That would require understanding what’s going on, and that’s anyone’s fucking guess at this point.
This is me during these last few weeks of the Fall semester.
