This book is an escape from your own reality. I recommend reading it if you want a fun easy, bring to the beach and not think for awhile, book. This is perfect for that. However if you're liking from a complex plot and mind boggling conclusion, skip it. Personally, I'm obsessed with LC.

I was not a huge fan of this book. It wasn't believable at all (Yes it is a fiction book but this was pretty bad) The characters were pretty annoying at times and it got a little boring. Now I didn't HATE this book but I certainly didn't love it. It was just kind of Eh. Although this book did end with a decent sized cliffhanger I really just don't care about the characters or the story enough to continue on with this series.

Honestly I didn't really like this book. It was too much like every other hollywood fame novels and the constant change of povs was slightly annoying. I think the book was more amusing than good for me.

I didn't want it to happen. I tried so hard to hate it. Instead I find that I loved this story and now must run out to buy the second installment! Being a huge reality TV fan, but not of Laguna Beach or The Hills, I thought for sure this book would be horrible. How could it not? Two bad TV shows, and the main girl, Lauren Conrad, is going to now pretend to be an author? LC - I eat my words! I may not like watching you on TV but you have created compelling characters that have left me wondering what is going to happen next. And that is the best part of reality TV!

Side note: Farrin Jacobs has worked with Sarah Mylnowski on publishing books. If you read LC's acknowledgments you'll see Farrin thanked in there. When Farrin is involved, how can you go wrong?

After trying to read it and failing after the first 50 pages, I downloaded the audio book to try again. Lauren Conrad actually narrates it...needless to say I didn't finish this book and likely never will.

I don't typically read too many reality tv show books but this one ended up catching my eye when I went to a yard sale and found the first two books in perfect condition for only a dollar. I'd seen people post about the series before but I never thought it would be my cup of tea. Boy, I was definitely wrong on that one. I simply devoured this book in about a day.

This book is great if you want shorter chapters with a fairly quick paced story line. It starts with Jane Roberts and her best friend, Scarlett Harp, moving to Los Angeles so that Jane can start a career in event planing and Scarlett can attend school. The two are later approached with an offer to be on tv and eventually accept after seeing how much money they will make per episode.

There's, of course, boy drama involved towards the end of the book - including a love triangle - but if you put that aside, it's a wonderful book. It's supposed to imitate Lauren's life from when she was on The Hills, and you'll find out interesting tidbits of information that may or may not come in handy one day. For example, the thing people stand on to get their pictures taken at events are called "step and repeats." I know, none of you really needed to know that kind of information (neither did I.)

I was surprised at just how well Lauren writes, I've never watched her shows before, thinking it was just some dumb blondes like Paris Hilton, but I was definitely wrong on that one. I'm planning on eventually checking out her other books sometime.

Pop culture enthusiasts will remember Lauren Conrad for her many years spent on MTV’s reality A-List with two hit shows: Laguna Beach and The Hills. Since breaking onto the scene of reality television a decade ago, her career has exploded with not only two shows under her belt but successful ventures in lifestyle, fashion and literature.

Lauren Conrad is a woman of many talents and one of my favorite people, well, ever.

L.A. Candy marked her first dabble into the release of young adult fiction and serves a dishy alternative to The A-List by Zoey Dean and Gossip Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar. It is the first of a trilogy, and followed quickly by a sequel trilogy as well, and is the very definition of beach reads.

Fans of those series will have certainly flocked to this gem and its follow-ups because reading it is just a genuinely good time. It’s smart and stylish but not a slow read. Once you’re in it, you’re in it until the finish and can’t take your eyes from it pages. The biggest mistake anyone could make with this novel is by thinking it'll be something other than it's not: don't take it too seriously.
